Reverend John H. Thompson was born 1848 near Memphis. He was a Baptist minister who served a Baptist church in Columbia, TN in about 1895 to 1901. I do not know which Baptist church that he served at. He was married to Octa Vaughn, a native of Columbia, TN. Can anyone tell me anything about this man and what he did while he lived there? I would like to get an obituary for him--he died a little before January 30, 1904 in Missouri. I was hoping that an obituary would exist in Columbia since he was so well known there. Please contact me if you can help. thanks brian in springfield mo

John H. Thompson is a common name in my family. 4 sons of Peter Thomson and Mary Potts of Lenoir, NC moved to Tennesse and
settled in Williamson, Maury and Wilson Counties in about 1800. Their
children lived throughout these counties and others. My great grandfather was named John Henry Thompson (2 of these original Thompsons)
Please keep in touch if you find out more information.

Hello: Reverend John H. Thompson (born 1849TN),was the son of J.J. Thompson(I only know the initials "J.J."). Rev. Thompson married Octavina Vaughn of Columbia, Maury CO.,TN. They moved around a lot. Rev. Thompson died in Springfield,Greene CO.,Missouri, in 1904. In nearby Stone CO.,MO., Alexander Hale (of Maury County,TN) moved to in the 1800s. I would like to know if all these Thompsons were related. Any help would be appreciated.

Our church has an excellent photo of Rev. Thompson. He was our first pastor.
