Thanks Dawn, one of the records I'm looking for is a marriage record. Have you heard anything about birth records?

A fellow genealogist recently sent for records. Here is what she found out.

"I received those documents in the mail and the charges were $5.50 for the divorce record and $7 for
the marriage record. Very reasonable!!!"

Here are the addresses in case someone else is seeking records.
[for divorce record]
Jane E. Fransen
Circuit Clerk, Whiteside County
Fourteenth Judicial Circuit
Morrison, IL 61270

[for marriage record]
Dan Heusinkveld
County Clerk, Whiteside County
County Office Building
Morrison, IL 61270

Naturalization

There are five Andrews in the Index of Naturalizations, including a Robert:

Andrews, Robert I A INT 57 30 Oct 1856

The I means filing of Intent, it is in Book A of Intentions, Page 57 dated 30 Oct 1856.

A William Andrews filed Intent and Final forms, while an Abner with a ? following the last name, probably hard to read...and a Jonathan also filed Intents.

Since this was close to 1860, I checked the census also, there were 11 Andrews entries (individual or families) in the County, In Mt. Pleasant, this family looks like yours:

Andrews, Robert 25 M Scotland Farmer
Mary L. 19 F NY
Solon M. 8m F IL

This indicates a daughter, Solon could easily be a transcription error as I am using a transcribed census. This is the only one that matched your information. Did not check all the Andrews in 1870, but there were NONE in Mt. Pleasant Twp., so it would appear that the family had moved on by then.

My GGG Grandfather, Robert F. Andrews came over from Ireland around 1860 with his wife whom I believe to be Mary and a son, Loren as well as to of Roberts brothers.
I do know that Robert and his family were here in 1863 for he had a son born 11 Sept, 1863 in Whiteside County. He later went to NE where he homesteaded. I have no idea how long he was in Whiteside County. I am searching for any information u may have. He may have filed for naturalization here. If so where would I start searching. My goal is to find out where in Ireland he came from. I thank you so much for your time.

Another correction, this was at the top of the next page and I missed it...in 1870 in Genesee Twp., also in the household of your Robert F. and Mary Andrews was:

Mitchel, Jennie 22 F IL Teacher

Will post more by Email.

Jodi,

My assumption that Robert would have been in Mt. Pleasant in 1870 was wrong...after you emailed me, I checked again and found your family in Genesee Twp as:

Andrews, Robert F. 36 M Ir X X Farmer
Mary 25 F Ir x x
Solon 11 M Il x x
Mary 9 F IL x x
Enos 7 M IL x x

I checked ALL the Andrews in 1880 and did not find your family, so it does look like they had moved on by then.

Can anyone tell me what information I must have to search for divorce papers? My grandmother Columbia Viola Shelkey Moates Myers divorced my grandfather Raymond Harry Moates but we have no idea when. Is this a necessity? How do we go about finding the records without it?
