Hello,
Please realize that this is a really long shot but we may be able to bring some researchers together.

I understand thru Baxter Dunn in his relative Sharron Currie's research there is evidence that in the 1850 Census Moniteau Co., MO in the household of

Jeremiah & Elizabeth Dowell
listed is

Ann Eliza Dunn 21 (dau)

J.W.T. Dunn 2 (g/son)

Jane Baker 19 (dau)

We are trying to read between the lines on this, Can anyone help out? Do you have information, connections to this family? Any assistance would be welcomed!

It is presumed on my part from information from these other two researcher that Benjamin Franklin Dunn is the not yet born child in this. We think him to be the brother of little J.W.T.Dunn above, the second son of Ann Eliza Dunn.

It is believed currently that the above mentioned Benjamin Franklin Dunn was given his father's name. The other two researchers have found evidence that he went to CA to the Gold Mines and never returned.

Is there knowledge or documentation of this at the Moniteau Co., MO area and does anyone have information on the other child of the Dowell family (again, presumed) Jane who has the Baker last name? Does anyone know who she married? and if he went to CA with Benjamin Franklin Dunn Sr.?

My interest in this is that the Benjamin Franklin Dunn, Jr may be the Frank Dunn and his wife Susan Brashear identified in the settling of the estate of Lilburn Brashear of Howard Co., MO in 1892.[Here I need to say that researcher and cousin, Tim Mitchell believes that his grandmother Anna Elizabeth Dunn to be the daughter of the above Benjamin Franklin Dunn, Jr and has shared with me that Anna's father was simply known as B.F.Dunn and his wife was known as Susie M. Dunn.] Lilburn had no direct heirs therefore his many neices and nephews/grand neices and nephews gained from the distribution of his estate.

The Susan Brashear, wife of Frank Dunn is the sister of my gg gf Robert Harrison Brashear (both children of John Calton Brashear II and his wife Elizabeth J. Montgomery (or Eliza J.).

Can anyone help us out on this family? If there is any of this that seems familiar to you please contact me. Any information would be of assitance. Thank you for reading this! God bless!

I am a relative of Eliza Ann and Frank Dunn mentioned in your 2000 inquiry. I hope by now you have resolved your question and have learned what happened to Frank Dunn. His whole name was Benjamin Frank(lin) Dunn and his first son was John William Thomas Dunn. The second son was named Benjamin Franklin. The 1850 census does have Eliza and her two sons living w/her parents. At the time of the census, she was 7 months pregnant. I presume that they were still married when she named the 2nd son after him. Found a record that Benj Frank Dunn (Sr) was in Amador County in CA with two brothers (same last name so I am assuming this). Eliza remarried in 1858 to M. Hall. Did Eliza and Benj Frank divorce? Did he ever return? Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

Nancy,
Am so delighted to finally get a response on this posting from so long ago. Unfortunately, I am not currently in a location to access my research so I will have to post, probably next Mon/Tues after I have found my files on this connection. I do recall having additional with a distant relative on the Dunn side but it seems if I have recalled this correctly that he was from another brother of the gentleman that my Brashear gg ga would have married. If I have remembered correctly, he shared a photograph of Susan Brashear Dunn and her husband. Also, do recall a long hand written letter relaying facts as they were known to him at that point about the ancestors so there literally may be somethings that might be important to your research. I do remember being overwhelmed with the man's knowledge of the movements of the family and all the interconnectiveness at the time of receiving the letter from him. I can't wait to get back and pass it along to you!!! for whatever value it may have to you, it would be another Dunn contact for the gentleman! I am so very glad you found the post and wrote after all these years!!! Can't wait to see what we can put together about this bunch. Thank you so much for writing and will get the information out to you just asap after I return. Again, Thanks!
Beth

Thank You Thank You Thank You!
Looking forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. I think that I have found addl. info on Dunn Family but want to verify with your sources.

Nancy Dunn
Fath - Wilson Dunn
GF - William T. Dunn
GGF - John William T. Dunn
GGF - Benjamin Franklin Dunn (Sr) We always thought his
name was Frank Dunn. Found documents that he and
two of his brothers were in CA in 1860 as a miner.
He had two sons w/Eliza Ann Dowell, John William
Thomas and Benjamin Franklin who were living w/her
parents on the 1850 census. I have a copy of an
obit on the younger Benj Frank who died in 1941.

My grandfather, William Thomas, was born in Parker County in North Texas. My Dad and most of his brothers were born in Orange County, Texas, (Southeast Texas) It is located on IH-10 - the last town before you travel into LA, i.e, you cannot get further east or south than Orange. My grandfather was killed in the 1940's. My family moved from Orange County to Williamson County (Round Rock) about four years ago. So excited!
