I am seeking information about my GGGreat-grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth GIST. She was born 07/13/1861 in Moniteau County, Missouri. I would like to find out who her parents were or any information about her siblings. Sarah married Louis Briton Hayes on 11/24/1881 in Moniteau County and they had nine children. I have Sarah Elizabeth Gist of Moniteau County Missouri as the daughter of John Gist (1840 - 1900, buried in Highland Cemetary, Moniteau Co.) and Abigail H. Turner (1843 - 1916). In addition to Sarah, I show the following children:
Horace Gist
Willard Gist, b 1863
Alfred Wade Gist, b 1869

I don't know that this is all the children.

Alfred Wade was my Great Grandfather, so Sarah was my Great Grand Aunt.

Page 210 of Jean Muir Dorsey's "Christopher Gist of Maryland," shows that John Gist b. 1840 Moniteau Co, MO and Abigail Turner had 6 children. They are Sarah Elizabeth Gist [b. 1861]; Willard Preston Gist [1863-1912]; Nora Elizabeth Gist [1865-1869]; Howard C. Gist [1867-1869]; Alfred W. Gist [b. 1869]; Horace Green Gist [b. 1881].

She says John Gist's line is Howard, John, John, Benjamin.

In my family tree I have an Eliza Jane Gist b. 1832 married William Henry Thixton in 1854 Moniteau Co., MO. Do you know how she fits in to that family ?

Yes, Eliza Jane Gist and William Thixton married January 19, 1854 in Latham, Moniteau Co., MO . They had 5 children: Eliza M., Sallie Ann, Thomas Harvey, Amanda M. and Malinda Jane .

Eliza Jane4 Gist (Watson3, Benjamin2, Benjamin1) was born December 9, 1832 in Kentucky [probably Monroe County] (Source: Dorsey, Jean Muir & Maxwell J., "Christopher Gist of Maryland and Some of His Descendants [1679-1957]", (pub 1969), p. 221.). She married (1) William Thixton. She married (2) Peter Woods.

The Dorsey book does not mention any children or marriage dates. Did she marry in Moniteau County?

Eliza Jane (GIST) THIXTON married Peter Green WOODS 13 Mar 1884...probably in Moniteau Co, MO. He was previously married to Nancy Jane HAGAN with whom he had 9 children. Nancy Jane died in 1877.

I am looking for any information for my great grandparents and grandparents. My mom said her mother was a Thixton, I believe Sallie Ann Thixton, who if I have it correctly married a Chester D Enyart in MOI..I am not too sure as I canot find any of my family who know anything about it.
I have lost touch with all of my mother's side of the family, The Enyart side. There was a Chester Enyart from MO and my mom talked about growing up in Kansas City MO and being in the Ozarks. She had a brother Denzel or Dennis, and a sister Leona, and a brother Clyde. But I never heard anything of my mom's mother's family. All I know is that there was a Sallie Ann Thixton and my sister is named Sally Ann after her. Could this maybe be your relatives? My name is Linda K.
