Mrs. Rebecca Anne Cramer Gross, age 76, Emmett, died Tuesday (23 September 1952) at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Granger, in Caldwell.

She was born Jan. 5, 1876, at Kirbyville, MO., the daughter of Ruth Jane Coggburn Cramer and William H. Cramer. As a young child she lived in Texas and Oregon before the family moved to Idaho, first to Round Valley and then settling north of Ola. She was married December 25, 1894, to Gustav Julius Gross at Ola. He died in 1936 at Emmett.

She moved from the Gross ranch on Upper Squaw Creek to a farm west of Emmett in 1926 and had made her home here since. Mrs. Gross was a member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are five sons, William and Orvid, both of Emmett; Gustave and Marvin, both of El Paso, Texas, and Frank of New Plymouth; three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Granger, and Mrs. Hester MacAskill and Mrs. Janie Kimball, both
of Emmett; a brother, John Cramer of Gillerest, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Gross, New Plymouth; 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Gustav A. Gross, 76 year old pioneer of Gross, died at his residence five miles west of Emmett last Thursday morning (16 July 1936).

Mr. Gross was born in Saxony, Germany, in 1859 and came to Idaho 51 years ago. The long-time pioneer settled
in what is now known as the Gross community on the Upper Squaw Creek almost five years before Idaho was admitted as a state to the Union. For years he was a prominent member of the community and an active leader in its development,
welcoming each newcomer to the community which now bears his name. About seven years ago Mr. Gross moved to his home near Emmett although he continued to spend a great deal of his time in the Squaw Creek country engaged in the cattle business.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Gross; five sons, William and Orvid of Emmett, Frank and Gustave of Ola and Marvin of Boise; three daughteers, Mrs. H. L. Granger of Caldwell, Mrs. D. O. MacAskill of Pearl and Mrs. W. W. Kimball of Emmett. He is also survived by a sister in Germany, a sister and brother in California and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Methodist Church last Saturday afternoon and interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Emmett.

Word has been received here of the death of Marvin E. Gross, age 73, of El Paso, Texas, January 30, 1982. Services were held in El Paso.

The son of Gustave and Rebecca "Annie" Gross, he was born at Gross, Idaho, in northern Gem County, where he was reared and educated.

He worked for Morrison-Knudsen Co. on Wake Island where he was captured and held prisoner of the Japanese for four years during World War II.

On his return to the States he went to El Paso and worked in the home building business. He married Carmen Guitiez in August 1946.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Patsy and Dolores Ann, all of El Paso; a stepdaughter, Roberta Burkn, of LaBort, Texas; two grandchildren; three brothers, Gustave of Pueblo, Colo., Frank of New Plymouth, and Orvid of Caldwell; two sisters, Janie Kimball and Hester Woody, both of Emmett. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Ruth E. Cramer Gross (1879 - 1961)

Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm at the Beatty Chapel for Mr Mrs. Ruth E. Gross, 81, who died unexpectedly Monday at her home in Emmett. The Rev. James White will officiate and interment will be at Ola.

Mrs. Gross (daughter of William Cramer and Ruth Janie Cogburn Cramer) was born November 6, 1879, at Kirbyville, MO. She came west with her parents in a covered wagon in 1866. They settled first in Oregon and moved to Round Valley, Valley County, Idaho, in 1887. In 1891 they moved to Ola where she married Richard Gross on Jan 28, 1900. He preceded her in death in 1918.

Operating a ranch on Squaw Creek, Mrs. Gross was the founding postmistress of the Gross Post Office, a position she held for a number of years. The post office was named in her honor.

In 1949 she moved to New Plymouth and to Emmett in 1957 where she has since resided. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was proceeded in death by four children.

Survivors include a son, Vernon, a brother, John Cramer, both of Emmett, a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Vernon V. Gross (1913 - 1979)

Services for Vernon V. Gross, 65, Emmett, who died Saturday at a Boise hospital, were conducted Tuesday at Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett, by the Rev. Harry L. Granger, First Baptist Church. Interment was in the Ola cemetery, with Lodge Rites by Plymouth Lodge No. 83, IOOF.

Vernon was born June 13, 1913, at Gross, the son of Richard Gross and Ruth Cramer Gross. He grew up and attended school at Gross and Ola. He moved to New Plymouth in 1939, where he farmed and worked for the Idaho Highway Department. He moved to Emmett in 1957, where he worked for Gem County Road Department. He married Susan Corrigan June 2, 1962, at Winneucca, Nev. He was a member and post Noble Grand of Plymouth Lodge No. 83, IOOF.

Surviving are his wife of Emmett. He was proceeded in death by two brothers and a sister.

William Julus Gross (1899-1976)

Services will be held Friday, March 23rd, at 2 pm at the Beatty-Potter chapel for William J. Gross, Emmett, who died Tuesday after a long illness. Rev. Ron Neumann of the Foursquare Church will officiate and interment will follow in the Emmett cemetery.

Born June 13, 1899, at Ola, he was son of Gustav Gross and Rebecca Annie Cramer Gross. He farmed in Gem and Payette Counties until moving to Boise in 1960. He was employed by Triangle Dairy until his his retirement in 1964, when he moved to Emmett. He has since resided here.

He was married to Alice Wyatt at Vale, Sept. 4, 1924. He was a member of the Foursquare Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, John Gross, of Emmett; three sisters, Josie Granger, of Caldwell, Janie Kimball and Hester Woody of Emmett; four brothers, Gustave of Pueblo, Marvin of El Paso, Frank and Orvid, both of New Plymouth; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
