I am the Granddaughter of Clarence Hoilien's brother, Robert Olaf Hoilien, he moved from Aberdeen, SD to California when my mother Mary (Robert's daughter born 3/1/25). I have never seen that part of our country. I hear that there will be a reunion in July 2002. I hope to be able to attend. What is it like there? Where are good places to stay? I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and now live in San Jose, CA. Can't wait to visit! Please respond. Thanks

Hi Susan,
I feel so lucky to have found you. My name is Anne Houlihan O'Connor. I am doing a genealogy on my mother's family. My mother's name was Kathleen (Katherine) McKenna Houlihan. Her mother was Theresa Morrow McKenna sister of Catherine Agnes Morrow who married Olaf Hoilien your greatgrandfather. I have no info. re their dates of birth or death. I understand that Catherine A. was postmistress in Rudolph, WI. I don't know what Olaf's occupation was.I believe he was of Norwegian descent. Catherine was born in County Longford, Ireland, my mother's birthplace.
It was my understanding that he was a homesteader and lived
not too far from John Morrow (Catherine Agnes' brother) who owned a store. I understand your grandfather Robert Olaf had four children. Can you fill me in on your grandfather's siblings and spouses (dates of birth & deaths). I have the following names:Joseph Charles, Cecelia Margaret, Robert Olaf, Josephine Marie, Clarence Edward, Maurice James, M.D.,
Frances Elizabeth, Kathleen Agnes. I understand that Cecelia
lives with Francis Eliz. in Reno Nevada. I believe that Frances who was a nurse and her husband had 3 boys and 2 girls.
Josephine gave this info to my mom some years ago. My mother died in 1995. We lived in New York and my husband and I now live in Jupiter. (400 Ocean Trail Way, Unit 1410, Jupiter, Fl 33477.561 746-1757
If you send me your address, I will send you my genealogy and maybe you can help me fill in the blanks.

Did you get to the reunion? I hope you had a great time.Tell me all about who you met there if you have the time. Do you have an e-mail address?
Thanks very much, Anne

Dear Lawrence,

My name is Anne Houlihan O'Connor. My mom's was Kathleen McKenna Houlihan from Ballinalee, Co. Longford.
I just recently started a genealogy on the McKennas. I found that my maternal grandmother was Teresa Morrow, sister of
Catherine Agnes Morrow who married Olaf Hoilien. To make a]long story short, I found Josephine Hoilien Griffin's only child, a son living in Akron, OH through the AOL White pages. He
wrote and put me in touch with his cousin, the same Jeanne
MacDonald who called you. She gave me a lot of information
on the Morrows and Hoiliens. I also learned that Teresa Morrow's mother was Margaret Lyons and through a post found a Theresa Brandon in Huntley, IL. She also has been extremely helpful with information on the Lyons branch.I started this genealogy with less than 100 relatives mostly from the northeast. I'm over 1100 now. Mostly Lyons and Hoiliens (IL, WI, SD, CA).
If you give me your e-mail addr. I can get in touch with you. Mine is anneloconn@aol.com. My husband and I are retired from NY and live in Jupiter, FL. I believe Jeanne and I are cousins and also that Theresa and I are related. I'm using Family Tree Maker software and have found it very easy to use. I will try to figure out our relationship on their "relationship calculator" and let you know. Happy to hear from you. Anne
PS I posted an answer to a Susan Chun related to Robert Olaf Hoilien (granddaughter maybe) but I never heard back from her. So after a few months, I stopped looking for an answer. She must be related to you.

I'm confused am I emailing Larry or Michael? As you can tell I'm new to the computer. I talk to Jeanne occasionally, she is my second cousin. So Larry, you are too I guess. You had a twin right? My Mom is Lilly Hoilien and my dad is Donald Douglas Hoilien. Maurice was his Uncle. I remember your Dad he was my Dr. while in Eureka...I can still remember him cleaning my ears. I too am just finding out about my family, as we moved to Long Beach, CA. My Mom and Dad div. when I was 5. The last time I saw him I was 9. He was in the hospital most of his life or at a ranch. My Mom is still alive, she has dementia and lives at a board and care. Shes 96.
I think Jeanne sent you a picture of your Dad and her or one of you boys, I just remembered Jeanne said you werent twins.
I loved Eureka all but the weather.Remember all the great gullys to play in and the berries growing along the road. Do you remember an old cracker store on the way to the elementary school. I'm 65 in Nov. Hope to hear from you.
Carole

I have quite a bit of data on the Hoiliens including
Jeanne MacDonald's address and phone number. Call me at
561 746-1757 or email aoconnor@comcast.net

My mother's aunt was Catherine Agnes Morrow who married
Olaf Hoilien. My grandmother, Teresa Morrow was Catherine's sister.
Hope you get this message.
