I published a short history of this family several years ago, concentrating on those who emigrated to western Virginia in the middle 18th century, but have pursued all of the MALLO descendants in my further work. At present I have 2446 descendants of Melchior MALLO in my database, down to abt 1862. I'm not a descendant of MALLO but they are closely interconnected with my families (DUCHMANN, DIEMER, WAHL, HUSSER, GASS) at Gundershoffen, Griesbach, and Uttenhoffen. At this time I am compiling a book which will attempt to list all the Lutheran families of these 3 towns, from c1650-1792.

Have you identified the origins of Melchior? I have not found him prior to 1649, when he was living at Bouxwiller, but I suspect there is some connection between him and Nicolaus LINDENMANN other than their being fellow soldiers.

Are you from the MALLO at Griesbach or those who moved to Melsheim? I would be most interested in comparing data.

Best,
Rick Toothman

I'm a descendant of Melchior himself descendant of Peter the oldest son of Hans Michael x Ursula Miller.Melchior and his wife Eva Wendling from Engwiller moved to Melsheim perhaps in 1740,before they lived in Griesbach The pastor of melsheim changed the name of Eva in Wendler!! My idee is to search all the alsacian descendants of the first Melchior(all my searches proved that all Mallo from Elsas are descendants of Melchior 1)I have found him in 1649 in Bouxwiller where my father is born!!
I have send you a longer mail on your mail address. Best Nicole Gignoux Mallo

As far as I am in my search, I don't know a direct link with my family members, except for a marriage between
MALLO Georges and BOOS Emma, both born in Griesbach around 1900.

Emma is my grand'ma sister. Of course, my first search was for BOOS surname, for which I know ancestors up to the earliests years of 1700 century. I didn't do the same search at the moment for MALLO,
but basically, I saw many MALLO in Griesbach records during my search but I didn't put all these data in my database (I was a bit unexperienced at the beginning...).

What I could say every time I saw a MALLO in villages records, I was able to say "(s)he came from or has an ancestor in Griesbach".

However it seems that we have the same roots, about the area and lutheran religion.

I put all locations I know about MALLO into Alsabase database but it needs to be completed.

A bientot

I'm trying to find any information on my Great-Great Grandfather Charles Augustus Waechter "Charlie" (b. 1863 d. 1936) & his spouse Elizabeth M. Schuler "Lizzie" (b. 1867 d. 1950). Charlie's father was a Joseph Waechter who settled in Dover, Ohio from Alsace-Loraine France. He supposedly left his family in Dover while he went off for the 1849 Goldrush in California, to return with only enough money to pay for his trip and a ring. I came across your post because you listed Waecther as a surname.

Charlie & Lizzie had four sons:
1.) Raymond Alfred Waechter (b. 1889 d. 1921) who married Cora Amelia Huth (b. 1890 d. 1977)
2.) Francis Andrew Waechter (b. 1892 d. 1977) who married Clara Mary Wagner (b. 1896 d. 1967)
3.) Leo Victor Waechter (b. 1893 d. 1982) who married Josephine Irene Huber (1891 d. 1956) [my Great Grandfather]
4.) Joseph John Waechter (b. 1898 d. 1976) who married Loretta Marjorie Sonnhalter (b. 1897 d. 1968)

I believe Charlie & Lizzie lived in Canton, Stark County, Ohio their entire life because my Grandfather Bernard Joseph Waechter (b. 1920) grew up across the street from the Stark County Fairgrounds and lived within walking distance from his grandparents Charlie & Lizzie.

I am writing history of Lintz/Mallo's of Constantine Michigan. Eva Elisabeth married my gggrandfather in Griesbach and moved to Constantine in 1839 following Jacob Lintz who sent for and soon married Christina Mallow from Griesbach nearby. We assumed they were brothers marrying sisters as Griesbach is so small, but since looking for proof I've found that there were Lintz and Mallow families from many nearby villages in Alsace Bas Rhin so they probably are related, but I doubt our brother/sister legend now more than ever. Can you help me nail this down before I publish?

Hi ,
Jacob LINTZ is born in Griesbach the 10/26/1812 as son from Margaretha LINTZ .
Margaretha was the daughter of Georg LINTZ and Margaretha MULLER, so she's the sister of Johann Peter LINTZ who married 04/28/1826 at Griesbach MALLO Eva Elisabetha fa of MALLO Thiébaut and SUSS Christina Magdalena
MALLO Christina born 05/24/1820 also in Griesbach is the daughter of MALLO Johann Peter and STAUB Christina. You must go back 5 generations to found a common ancestor beetwween Eva Elisabetha and Christina.
For more in formations please contact me on my own mail adress.
Hope this can help you
All best

Oh my cousin-you are wonderful. I have been searching for your wonderful information for months! I imagined Jacob Lintz to be a nephew of Peter's older son, and as it is his sister's son, I was close. I will re-write my history soon and your certainly will get a copy if I can find how to get it to you! Living with Jacob and Christina in Constantine for several census' was a Sarah Mallo. I'm guessing she was an older sister of Christina who came as chaperone and stayed, but could your confirm this? I will try to contact you directly, but am not sure how. You certainly made my day! Thank you soooooooo much! Ron Lintz RBlintz@cox.net
