I have been going over a fair amount of information nad have thought about who and how many marriages he may have had. it is listed that he married two women Francoise Tournaude(from France) and another woman. I have come across information that states that he married Francoise Tourneau(indian). now it was common back in those days to have more than one wife.

now what if, instead of using Francoise Tourneau's real name(native name) they decided to use a name that resembled his french wife's, that way appearing more of a gentleman. now if these women had the same name used in offical paperwork, how many errors could that bring about?

Jacques could have married Francoise Tournaude in France, came to Canada where he met 'Francoise Tourneau' and married her as well. This would explain the age gap between the first two children, the spelling error in the surname, and the lack of information when Tourneau is used in place of Tournaude.

I have talked about this to another researcher, and we both think this could be a possibility. I am going to try and look into this more further.

Jaccques Archambault did marry twice. He married Françoise Toureau-Tourault-Touraud (different name variation but she is the same person)Bet. 1625 - 1629 (no proof found yet of marriage certificate). Incidentally, she was not Indian, She was a native of French descendant from France who came to Canada with Jacques and 5 of their children. One child died in France. Three years after Françoise's death in 1663, Jacques married Marie Denot de La Martinière in 1666. Marie(had married 3 times before) she married Jacques.

I have in my files that Jacques and Francoise were married on January 24, 1628/29 in St. Philibert du Pont, Charault Lucon Poitou, Aunis, France.

I also have that 7 of their children were born in France with one dying very young. The same year that it was born. 1640.

I do have to say that this information was acquired long before the term “Source” sunk into this old head, so I cannot even say where I got this information from or from whom.

Oops! You are right, they had 7 children and not 5. No marriage certificate was ever found in France, therefore we are lead to believe they married between 1625-1629. Jetté, Tanguay etc... just assumed they were married at the given date you have. As for the one child who died in France, we don't know if she died the same year she was dead.
