The database that you are now updating is THE SAME ONE that was available on
www.RSAR.org in 2006. It was NOT available on
www.SAR.org until 2010.
Starting in 2004 I led a team of several committees, headquarters staff, and SAR computer consultants in creating created the combined Patriot Index / Revolutionary War Graves database for the SAR. At that time the SAR was using the Real Story of the American Revolution (RSAR) site as the place for the general public to learn about RevWar history and to list the patriots who fought in that war. Since the SAR created / owned / managed both the SAR and RSAR websites that database was stored on the same server as both the SAR and the RSAR websites.
If you use the Web archives to view the RSAR site of July 3, 2006
http://web.archive.org/web/20060703193035/http://www.rsar.or...you will see the link "Find Your Patriot", which goes to a page accessing the database on the domain
memberinfo.sar.org
If you check the SAR Website home page top-tabs for a close-by date, June 7, 2006,
http://web.archive.org/web/20060702163941/http://www.sar.org...and the site index for that month,
http://web.archive.org/web/20060614231121/http://www.sar.org...you will see that there is no listing for the combined database. The link to the combined database was added to the SAR site long after the RSAR site was discontinued. However the database was and is an SAR creation and was noted as such on the RSAR site (which also belonged to the SAR).
I am glad to see this valuable database being updated and improved. -- Ralph Nelson
