In case you do not already have this infornation from other branches of the Lunsford family: Bedie Jane Barefoot was my husband's great-great-grandmother. Family legend has it that her father John Barefoot was full-blooded Indian but tribe is unknown. He came from Tennessee with Bedie and her husband Solomon Hayes Price. There are some Barefoot descendants of "snowbird Cherokee" of North Carolina (those who escaped to the mountains to avoid being forcibly moved to Oklahoma), but I have not been able to establish a connection. Also, my research indicates that Barefoot is not an Indian name but an English/Danish one, so although John was said to be full-blooded Indian, there may have been an English addition to the family line several generations before him. I would love to know the answer myself!
Anyway, Bedie's daughter Margaret Barcena Price married Alfred David Lunsford. I have quite a bit of Lunsford information if you are still looking for it. Also, my sister-in-law (bzcagle) has a public tree posted on Ancestry (the BZC tree) that has some of the same information. I believe the Lunsford line goes back to the William Lunsford who came over from England with Sir Thomas Lunsford. That is contrary to the family legend about Ireland but there is quite a bit of evidence for it so I'm working on that angle.

Hi sharon, Thank you for the information, I suspected that was the case, when I started to find oout more about my grandmoother's side of the family. My mother always told us about our indian heritage, but she said it was on our grandfather's side. His name was James Monroe Dyer, We can't find any information on him. Not even his mom's or dad's names. We were told that our ggg grandfather was Chief Barefoot of the Cherokee Indians. But I had no way of confirming this. Have you ever heard of the legend of Him killing a bear with his bare feet. At any rates, I do have some geneology on the Lunsford and Barefoot family if you want to see what I have. I would really like to hear more about what you have. Thanks Henrietta Hicks
