I am looking for any information on the Redfield, Snell, Fosnot, Monroe, and/or Hoar families in the Wyoming Co. area. I do know that my great-great-grandfather, Powers Washington Redfield was born to a Philip Redfield in or near Tunkhannock, PA, 9/1832. He married a Mary Margaret Fosnot, b. 12/02/1838. She was also born somewhere in PA, but I don't know where. They moved on to Sauk Co., near Reedsburg, WI. Their four children were Amy Antoinette, b. 8/27/1858, Edith Evelyn, George W. & Henry John Redfield. Amy married my great-grandfather, John David Snell, who was born in Knox Co., OH, 6/12/1861. He was the second of nine children, the first son of Shadrack Snell, b. 3/01/1837 & Eliza Ann (Hoar) Snell, b. 10/21/1839, both born in OH or PA, but not sure where. John David Snell had an older sister named Elizabeth Alice, b. 1859, also in OH. The Snell family left Richland Co., WI, & their neighbors the Redfield Family, & moved to Wright Co., MO, in Dec. 1882 or Jan. 1883, eventually moving to Taney Co., MO. The Taney Co. census showed Shadrack Snell's father as being from Maine & mother from Maryland. I have located an Isaac Snell from Maine & wife Alvina from Maryland. No dates, & so far no way to prove that they may have been Shadrack's parents. I have located some Snell names from Luzerne & Lycoming Counties in PA, but nothing more. If anyone has any information on any of these family names, as well as Hoar or Monroe, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. I do know that my great-great-grandmother, Eliza Ann (Hoar) Snell's parents were Susan (Monroe)Hoar & David Hoard & that they were both from PA, but where. Could there be a connection to Pres. James Monroe's brothers, Spence, Andrew, or Joseph Jones Monroe? Thanks! Marla Schwiethale mjs@juno.com

Would you please change David Hoard's name to David Hoar. This is in the Lycoming Co., & Luzerne Co., PA, surname list. Thank you.
