My great grandfather was James Thomas Aird and he married a Mary Ellen late lane formerly Weston possibly in the late 1870-1880's. I know this is a long shot, that we could be working on the same family.

Do you know what clan the Ard's are descentants from?
My family of Ard's came to Charlestown Landing, SC.
John, Mary, Jane and John, Jr. came here in June 1767 and were granted land in what is now Williamsburg Co., SC. I have found records from Scotland and have been told it could be from the Ross Clan or possibly the Chisholm Clan.

Judy, I believe that the John ard that you are referring to lived in Fairfield County, SC. He seems to have vanished, would like any information that you can provide on him and his family.

Gilbert, this John Ard settled in the Charleston District which was changed to Marion District and then changed several more times before it finally became Clarendon County. My grandmother was Bertie Elizabeth Ard Rodgers she is buried at Harvin Cemetery Alcolu, SC. My great grandfather Edward Ruben Ard he is buried at Oak Grove Methodist Churchyard in Manning, SC and his father Samuel Ruben Ard were born in the Marion District of SC. Samuel Ruben was killed in the War between the States (Civil War) and is buried in Virginia. Samuel Ruben's father was William Ard. We think that the John Ard that was 3 years old when he came to America is William's father. We only find land transfers from John Ard to William Ard and the record we have found make us think that William was born about 1801. William was married 3 times and had 7 children. His wives were Ann ???, Sara Ann Poston and Jane Bartell. We believe that all the children were Jane's because William and she were married in 1827 and she died in 1847. The children were born between 1828 and 1846. I will be glad to send everything that I have if you give me you email address.

I too am seeking information on Wesley Jackson Ard's family. Particulary one son named Alexander Ard. He was married to a Mary Adams? and had at least one son named Alto Ard. Alto is my husbands grandfather. Alto died in a hospital in Columbus, Georgia. It seems as though Alexander just diappeared. Cannot find anything on what happened to him after 1900 Alabama Census.

Wesley was born on 16 October 1823 in Early County, Georgia. Married Ridley Byrd and they had Elizabeth J., Pierce, Alexander, and Caroline. He died in 1904 in Dale County, Alabama.

I hope this helps you and I hope you can help me.
