Dear Bremer County:

I am trying to locate the St. Paul's Lutheran church and cemetery in Siegel, Douglas Township, Bremer County, Iowa where my great-great grandfather and gggmother were buried in the 1890s. Also, does anyone know where I can access a copy of the 125th Anniversary Book for the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Siegel? I would appreciate any help tracing this church - it has been difficult finding information on my great-great grandparents.

Names researching in Bremer County: HERBENER, DILGES

Thank you for your suggestions.

Sincerely,
Katherine

St. Paul Siegel burned down quite a few years ago. The cemetery is still there along Highway 63. But the church rebuilt in Tripoli about 6 miles from where it was. The new address for the church is 700 4th St. SW, Tripoli, IA 50676 and their phone number is (319) 882-3703. I'm sure they probably still could have some of the anniversary books on hand. Good Luck

Dear Bonnie,

Thank you so much for your information. I will definitely try to contact the new church in Tripoli. The cemetery must be hard to find without the church there - thank you so much for the tip.

Sincerely,
Katherine

the empty lot is sad...

It is spelled Huebner or the "ue" early was w/ an "umlaut"

but do check St Johns in Frederika too, they were "kind of" sister churches. Some famlies moved to/from each church ...

good luck
