Henrietta Emily Jane Batey (Jane) b. 2/12/1898 and d. 4/2/1985. I am not sure if she was b. in Wilson Co. or Guadalupe Co, or Gonzales Co. She m. my uncle Earl Russell Cowey (6/24/1903-2/8/1959) and they had one son, Earl Lee Cowey (7/3/1924-2/22/1991).
Jane's Parents: Robert Lee Batey & M.A.______. Bro Robt Wendle Batey.
Grandparents: H.H. Batey & Juda A. ________. Their children were sons W.H., Andy W., and Robert Lee.

I have some dates for these folks, but no other info. I do know that H.H. Batey was a Cattle Inspector in Seguin, Guadalupe Co. H.H. was killed by a rancher when he wouldn't allow the man's diseased cattle into the inspection pens. He was killed on the property that is now Mary B. Erskine school. He is buried in Sandie's Chapel, Dewville, TX.

I would like to share BATEY family history.

I saw you only listed my brother for Henrietta Emily Jane Batey, but I believe my grandfather, Henry Holmes Batey, is also her brother. We know very little about him, except that he was from the Seguin, Texas area. My mother has a picture of him with his parents and siblings, and I believe I remember the name Henrietta Emily among the girls. He married my grandmother, Myrtle Mattie Yeary, but they were separated or divorced before my father, C. B. Batey, was born on 4/16/1915, and my father never saw him. They had one other son, Samuel Holmes Batey. We believe he relocated to California, remarried, and had more children, but I have nothing definite on that. If you have any additional information on your aunt, my grandfather, or the family from Seguin, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks.

I think you have the wrong Emily Heneritta{my mother had the name also..seems the two eldest Batey daughters named half their neices after themselves. Will give you some info to possibly narrow the search down. my great-great grandfather was henry holmes batey. he was married to judith jarrett. they had a son william benamin "ladd" batey. Ladd married maldonetta miller. They had a son named andy walter batey. andy walter married louise scruggs and they had a son roy cordell batey. roy was my father. henry holmes batey's father was william farrington batey. he was the one who was shot . let me know by personal e-mail if this helps. i have just recently found cousins near austin and went to visit. had a great time. there are many batey's out there. hope you are one of them. jan

My great grandfather was Henry holmes batey, married to Judith Jarret."ladd" was the oldest son, my grandmother was the youngest child. Henry Holmes was the one killed here in Seguin. Many of Henry Holmes great grand children live around here ...There is a Robert Batey here that is who is a direct decendant of your great grand father Ladd.
