I'm looking for any information anybody may know, have or can direct me to help me trace the military life of my father-in-law Frank Capuano. He was born 9 Nov 1919 in Bethlehem, Pa; enlisted 17 Oct 1941 at New Cumberland, Pa. and served per his stories in the North African and Italian campaigns. He passed away in Mar 1982. I have his Army Serial and S.S. #'s and with those sent a signed request by his daughter(my wife) to the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis only to be told of the many records lost in the 1973 fire.

I also have the certificate he received when stationed at Camp Kilmer where he was appointed a Corporal on 7 Sept 1942. His unit was the 213th CA AA - Can anyone decipher "CA" and AA" for me? After this, any other records are unknown; but I was hoping that someone may know or can direct me to find out what became of his unit from Camp Kilmer. Does anyone know what Army group the 213th CA AA was in?

Thanks very much,
Ed W.

Hi, Not an expert but I believe the CA stands for Coastal Artillery and the AA as Anti-Aircraft. I have a book that has some history on the 213th AA Battalion that I can scan for you and send to you if you send me an email and put 213th AA in the subject line.
