My great grandmother Annabel was sister to James Haining. Both were born in New Brunswick and resettled in Beaverhead Co., Montana abt. 1880. In 1907, James moved his family to Acme. I'm interested in learning more about all the Haining descendants of George Haining (1822-1908) and Rosanna KINNEY (1831-1904). I have copies of obituaries and some information about the Haining ancestors and lots of information about the KINNEY ancestors.

The Master Surname Index (not online) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists some 15 Haining names among them are;

James Haining, 22 May 1862 - Jan 1946 (1st w Sophrona, 2nd w Elizabeth) and
Elizabeth Barnett Haining, 1870 - 1956 (2nd w of James)
both buried next to each other in the Acme cemetery.

Also in the Acme cemetery is;
Myrtle J. HAINING, interred 1932 (d/o Walter & Frances GLADWIN) buried in an other area of the cemetery.

There is mention of James Haining in the local history book "Acme Memories".

I'm great grandaughter of Cora Agnes Haining b. June 03, 1883. in Glendale, MT. This town is no more M. William Brook Fozzard Oct 12, 1904. This is the only information I have on my Haining side. I know that the parents moved to Canada. Do not know their names. Would like some information Please.

I saw your posting on the Haining family and was wondering if there could be a connection between my Hannan family. My gg-grandfather, Robert Hannan (born Haining), was born in 1822 in Portpatrick, Scotland. Family history says he was a twin. His parents were George Haining and Elizabeth Stewart. Robert moved to Orleans County, NY in 1870, and for some reason, used the name Hannan on the ship's manifest and until his death in 1906. If we are related, I'd love to hear from you.
