I have found a German Bible and am trying to find out more information. The inscription is hard to read because the letters seem to run into each other. I can read a little German but when I can't make letters out it's difficult for me. Here is what I can make out Jim Carl Arthur Anderson ___ in 3/10/1886. It then says more that I can't make out. It looks as if on the bottom line it says Huntsdale, Pa. I think. It is signed by And??? Palmer Pastor. Can anyone help identify who this could belong to or even have information at which church Palmer would have been at the time. I'm assuming it would be a German church. Thanks

Faith,
Not sure if this helps or not but,
The Churches of God (Winebrenner Denomination) had a William Palmer who was ordained in 1867. At that time there was a number of Churches of God in the Dauphin, York, Lancaster, Cumberland county area. Because you list the possibility of Huntsdale, PA, you might check with the South Fairview Church of God, on Route 233. They were in existence at that time. I know Pastor Palmer was pastor of the Plainfield Circuit which included Plainfield, McClure's Gap, Doubling Gap, North Middleton, and Possom Hill from 1898 to 1901. He died March 15, 1901.

Elaine,
Noticed "Hays" in your list of surnames. My grandmother, Clara Hays, was from Alinda, Spring Twp, Perry county. Would this be a link? Am up against a wall on her lineage.

I'm looking for the Church of God records for Newburg PA. Found-1839. The church is razed-the cemetary is still there. Near Shippensburg and Franklin County boundary. Families on this branch- Pollinger / Baughman / Fosnought/Fasnacht/ Fosnot
Thanks, Cathy

Cathy, The Newville Historical Society, at 69 S. High St. Newville Pa. has those records. I don't think they have a website. Their phone number is: 717-776-6210

Thank you so much for the information. I've been to Shippensburg and Carlisle- but not this one.
