Surnames: Anderson, Engstrom
Anders (Andrew) Gustav Anderson and his wife Ida Christina arrived in Hartford from Sweden in the mid to late 1880's.

Their two oldest children Allan (my grandfather) and Nannie were born in Sweden. The rest of the children were born in Hartford. Many years ago, my aunt Elizabeth (aka Betty, Dit) Kilbourn (of Brandford) worked on a family Genealogy for this line. I am using the work she did as a starting point. She left a good generational outline of all the families.

I am the daughter of Elizabeth's sister Ruth Virginia (aka Virginia) and the grandaughter of Allan Anderson and his wife Hilma.

I am looking for cousins who can help me. Many of the cousins in my mother's generation grew up together in Hartford and knew each other. Many of them maintained contact over their lifetimes. My mother kept contact with a number of her cousins. Dit kept contact with many of them.

I am willing to share and compare information, I would also enjoy meeting my second cousins, and their children. I'm not new to genealogy. I've been working on my father's family for the past 10 years, now it's time to work on my mother's. I still live in central Connecticut.

Can you tell me more about the Engrstrom family because I have a whole Swedish line of Andersons / Engrstrom. I am looking for information on a August & Annie Engstrom from Hartford,Ct. I am in touch with a man from Sweden who is a relative and is also looking for information on them.
It would be great if this is the same family but I need more information on your side as these are both common names.

I have an August Engstrom married to Anna Brown; two children: Jesse married Oscar Freeburg - daughter Annie; Clifford married a Marion.

August is the son of August Engstrom (brother of my gggrandmother). His brothers and sisters are: Augusta married Gustaf Engstrand// Alfreda married Oscar Hjerpe - children: Elizabeth, George. Herbert mar. Evelyn, Frank mar. Agnes, Ruth mar. Leonard// Albin married Hanna Nelson - children : Axel mar. Lydia, Helmar mar. Helen// Olivia// and Herman married Mary Johnson - son Henry married Ingrid

Ida who married Anders G. Anderson was was Ida C. Nelson/ Nilsson. Her mother was Mary Elizabeth (Mayalisa) Engstrom (b. 1831 Sweden; d.circa 1920 Hartford); married to Magnus Nils Nelson"Nilsson ( 1828 -1868 Sweden). Mayalisa had more that one sibling who came to Connecticut.

Did I give you any recognizable names? If you give me some of the names you connect to, I may be able to find them. I have lots of names over several generations, and very few dates. I only gave you names from the family of Mayalisa's brother August.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes, This sounds like them. August Engstrum married my great, great grandmother's (clara Bruhn-Anderson) niece Annie Bruhn from Sweden. She came over in 1890. I have August Engstrum's dates and places of birth from Sweden.

They had Annie, Clifford and Jessie and lived in Hartford,Ct. that is all the information I have on their children.

A Bruhn relative in Sweden is looking for any information on them... He wants to update his Sweden to American geneology.... Perhaps he can help you with your Sweden side?

Any information on them will be appreciated so I can pass it on to him. If you want August Engstrom's info You can e-mail me at casualphotos@yahoo.com
