Looking for info on a George DeForest born around 1869, most likely in New York City.

We know for sure that he had a son bearing the same name in 1912 -- my grandfather -- because there is a birth certificate for him, and we know that the senior George died in 1926 because there is a death certificate.

He married twice, the first (undocumented) marriage was to Anna Higgins or Anna Frazier, and the second (confirmed) marriage was to Bertha Kalles.

That first marriage is likely my great-grandmother, so I am also desperate for more information on her.

We can't locate George Senior's birth certificate, so we have no way of definitively tracing our genealogy past my grandfather.

Hi! I was excited when I saw that you had a George DeForest, but unfortunately, mine was born sometime in the 1790s. I think my George was the brother of my great grandmother Maria DeForest, born 1794 in Woodbourne, N.Y., and died 1868 in Pleasantville, N.Y. He was married to Charlotte Vanderbilt, sister of Commodore Vanderbilt, but they were divorced. That's all I know about George. He very well could be an ancestor of your George.
There are many DeForests who were Rev. War veterans -- they are listed in the New York Genealogical & Biographical Index. There are slso a number of DeForests buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, N.Y.
I hope we both have luck in finding our "George DeForests"
Jean

Hi!

RE: Geo de Forest: do you have ANY more info, i.e. middle initials for either George, sibling/spouse names you haven't mentioned, or occupations?

Do you know if your family has any connection with Michigan?

I'd like to help. I have a lot of info on de Forests!

Best regards
