Franklin
Wingate was born September 6, 1822 and Margaret Bell was born November 13, 1822. They had 12 children:
1) Alexander B. (March 5, 1843) married to Annie
Altz on December 29, 1868, killed in a wreck on the
Pennsylvania Railroad on March 12, 1885;
2) Jesse B.(November 20, 1844), died from the effects of a wound received in the service of the Union, during the Rebellion, November 15, 1867;
3) William B.(August 3, 1846) married Sarah
Burley on December 30, 1871 and was accidentally shot at Tyrone, Pa on July 4, 1872;
4) Jennie T.(July 9, 1848) married
Jeremiah Thomas on July 2, 1868 and died August 17, 1869;
5) Joseph P.(born on the line between
Cambria and
Blair counties on March 30, 1850) married in
Huntingdon county on January 30, 1873, to Martha A. Pheasant (daughter of Philip and Matilda
Pheasant, residents of Trough
Creek twp in
Huntingdon county). As of the 1896 writing of the book Joseph and Martha had no children;
6) Franklin P. (September 5, 1852) died August 30, 1882;
7) Rebecca Mary (August 9, 1854) married Hugh A. Miller on June 26, 1872 and resided in Harrisburg;
8) John L.(November 23, 1857) resided in Brockawayville,
Jefferson county, and was an engineer on the
Philadelphia and
Erie Low
Grade Railroad;
9) James C.(December 28, 1858) killed in a train wreck on September 5, 1884;
10) Annie M.(October 4, 1862;
11) Ada Russell (March 25, 1865) married Samuel
Altz and died March 13, 1890;
12) Wilhelmina Adela (April 2, 1868) married
Allie Hamer of Reedsville, Pa.
Franklin
Wingate, father of the family, died in Saulsburg,
Huntingdon county, Pa on May 1, 1868 and his wife died in Huntingdon on May 2, 1882.
