I'm fairly new to genealogy so it's not surprising that I've come up to a road block in searching for ancestors. My ggrandfather lived near Belton in Bell County (Aiken-Cedar Creek) according to the 1870 census, but was born about 1845 in Tennessee (again accordin to the census). In the census, Henry's last name is AUTHER.

Henry married Eva Kirby on 31 Oct 1869 (confirmed by a marriage certificate) in Bell County. They may have continued to live in Bell County but, by 1881, they were in Madison County.

I am trying to locate the parents of Henry and his siblings but have so far not had any luck. I would appreciate any advice on other Bell County resources that may be helpful. Thanks.

The 1880 census is on the Bell GENWEB website, no index, have to look page by page. They were listed in Pct 2 in 1870.

I am finding records as Aurthur, Arthur and Author on this family. I presume Henry died in Madison county between 1900 and 1910 census. Eva is buried Madisonville City Cemetery with son Barney and daughter Susie Mae Authur Wilson and her husband Thomas Lee Wilson. Henry and Eva's first known child was James Harvey born Oct 1870 then Wm Harrison Sept 1873. One unknown child born 1870's early 1880's was already married by 1900 and living.

James Harvey and Wm H married late 1890's in Madison county. There were 8 living children in 1910.
