Surnames: Nogrady
Searching for descendents of my grandfather Paul (Pal) Nogrady b. Jan 1881 in Budapest, Hungary; m. Feb. 1904 in Cleveland, Ohio to Mary Bodnar; d.Jan 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio. He had a sister, Elizabeth (married name unknown) and a brother, George. George had 3 children, Emil, Julius and Irene. That's all the info I have. I believe George and Elizabeth lived in the Fairport Harbor, Painesville, OH area. Paul, his wife and children (Fred, Gizella, Olga) lived in Cleveland. Only Olga (Ollie), my mother remains. Also I have no information on Paul's parents or grandparents but supposedly they were from the Budapest area.

Not related and not researching. You might do better if you post on a General board as this is a Nograd megye / county board.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910

Take a look in Ellis Island website. You might locate some other NOGRADYs that might be related to you.
To locate an EI manifest in One Step and especially when you know a name of a town use :
www.stevemorse.org

You need to locate a name of a town in order to proceed with the research. Take a look in Ellis Island website. You need to register but no money.

LOL....send anything...all I have is what you have given me other than the Ellis Island site. I am still trying to figure out if my last name is it's original spelling and such. I know it means "from Nograd" but that is all. It seems like all Nograd descendants are from Nograd...so I don't know how relations work.

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 Click on Nograd megye to see the towns.
A good locator is or to locate a town with present name www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm
You know that you start the family tree with yourself and going backwards to the ancestor that came from the "old country". ( I know you know) :) (smile)
You need to establish a name of a town that your ancestor came from.
Take a look in Ellis Island at NOGRADIs and NOGRADYs.
The Hungarian phone site www.matav.hu/english/index.html is listing NOGRADI and NOGRADY. Both spellings can also be found in Slovak Republic's phone book. www.zoznamst.sk
Post on all the boards that apply to your surname. www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
www.google.com a search engine
In 1990 census of names in Poland there was 1 NOGRADI. The LDS-Mormons have filmed the church records but you need the name of a town and religious orientation of your ancestor to order the records from which you can gather ancestral information.
