There are so many cemetaries listed for Delaware County that I am curious which ones existed for the time period 1847-1855.
I am having trouble finding the deaths/burials for two ancestors (husband & wife)who died in this time period.

Did you check the cemetery listings on the DelCo website? It would be much easier to find your burials if you had names and dates of death. You can go through the library to see if there is an obit. Otherwise, you'd have to go through the courthouse to locate death records. Those might even tell you where they're buried.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I have checked with the Delaware County Historical Society library and the Delaware Co website for their listed deaths/burials and found nothing.

My ancestors are John Redpath(d. 1850-1855) and wife Juliann Redpath (nee Jones) (d. 1847-1852)

I did not know the courthouse had information on old death records & burials. I will certainly contact them.

Indiana did not require the registration of births/deaths until about 1882 and even then some counties didn't comply until the early 1900's when it was made mandatory. I doubt the courthouse would have any info to help. Don

Cathy - it can't hurt to check for an obit or a death record anyway. You might get lucky and save some time. If they aren't there, then go for other sources. If it were me, I'd be checking the library for obits and the courthouse for death records simultaneously. You might also go online with the library to see if the Meeks Mortuary records shows them. Good luck.
