I am seeking the book "Anthony DeForest" written by John L. Deforest, Published in 1983. I need information from this book to establish blood-line to his son Ebenezer DeForest who fought in the Revolutionary War, as I want to apply for membership in the SAR. My line is:
Anthony DeForest
Ebenezer^
Rufus^
Deborah^

SAR stands for Sons of the American Revolution!

DAR stands for Daughters of the American Revolution

I only found one book by John L. DeForest so perhaps the one you are seeking was a limited private publication. Try searching worldcat.org
You will have to try a variety of searches to come up with something.
Google actually comes up with several books, articles and publications linked to the name. Looks like he was once the secretary for SAR.

I am curious--what proof do you have that RUFUS DeFOREST was the son of EBENEZER DeFOREST (Rev War, lived Westchester Co NY 1790-1835) & MERCY his wife?

I am currently researching the Westchester Co NY DeForest family.

My ancestors SAMUEL BROWN & wife RHEUA/RUHAMA lived next door to EBENEZER DeFOREST and/or his sons JAMES DeFOREST and SAMUEL DeFOREST from 1800 until 1850 in Corlandt and Pound Ridge, Westchester Co NY.

I have long suspected that RHEUA was a daughter of EBENEZER DeFOREST, but have not been able to find any proof.

RHEUA/RUHAMA, wife of SAMUEL BROWN, JAMES DeFOREST & his wife PENIA BROWN, and SAMUEL DeFOREST & his wife ELIZABETH CHAPMAN all named daughters "Harriet", "Clarissa" or both. Not sure why.

In 1850 Pound Ridge, Westchester Co NY census SAMUEL N. DeFOREST age 22 , son of SAMUEL DeFOREST & ELIZABETH CHAPMAN, was living in the household of SAMUEL & RHEUA/RUHAMAH BROWN. I suspect SAMUEL N DeFOREST was RHEUA/RUHAMAH's nephew.

Yours, Betty Tartas

The Deforests of Avesnes(and of New Netherland);A Huguenot Thread in American Colonial History, 1494 to the present time. by John William DeForest originally published 1900
Published by General Books ( www.General-Books.net) 2009

and

A Walloon Family in America by Mrs. Robert W. DeForest (2 volumes) originally published in 1914. This has a section of Genealogical Notes detailing families, a section Genealogical Chart, and a section War Records. These volumes have a lot of detail and appear to have been well researched as there are many copies of very early documents.

I have seen the names you are looking for in both of these.
They are well worth the time and money.

Did you ever get a copy of the book? I have a photo copy of it, which could send if still need it.

I see in my research Anthony, Ebenezer, and Rufus. I haven't gone beyond that point.

One can access these two books on the internet and open up a .pdf of them. The links for doing this are:

A Walloon Family in America: http://books.google.com/books/about/A_Walloon_family_in_Amer...

The DeForests of Avesnes:
http://books.google.com/books/about/The_De_Forests_of_Avesne...

When you copy the link into your brower, it will open up and you'll see a little gear icon in the upper right hand corner. Click on it and choose to view the .pdf and then open it.

Researching the DeForest family--a descendant of Jesse de Forest, Isaac, David, Samuel, Joseph, Mills, then to Susan de Forest (Mills' daughter) who married William Cargill, Jr. And then a few more generations down to me!
