Hi,
I am trying to trace my great grandfather of St Kitts. We believe he was Indian, from Calcutta and moved to St Kitts with his family (possibly his mother) probably around late 1800's/early 1900. Little is known of him, but I think he is related to the Tota family and/or Pennyfeather family of St Kitts. His eldest daughter was Emelia Thomas (my Grandmother) and he also had other children, Angie, Olive and a son who died in childhood. Any information would be welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Angela

my wife is name Cora Tota and her grandfather whose name was William and his father brought him over from India to St. Kitts also in the time frame you are talking about. We have met the Tota family in St.Kitts. They have a little store/restaurant in Bassaterre on George street. His name is Ralph Tota and is the nephew of her grandfather. We are also trying to find her grandfather William ToTa family tree.

Hi Angela,

My name is Stacey Kyme and I came across your message from a google search and your story sounds very similar to mine. I am from Bermuda and I am currently searching for information regarding my great grandfather from St. Kitts. His name is William Tota and from what I understand from my father, Aunts and Uncles he is of East Indian descent. I was told that his family had emigrated out of Kolkata (Calcutta) in what I assume was the East Indian indentured trade of the 1800's. I know very little about him also and would be interested if you have any information regarding 'Totas' of Indian descent in St. Kitts.

Kind regards,
Stacey Kyme

Hi Margo,

Thank you so much for kindly looking. I have no idea where Louisa Tota fits in my family but I'm sure once I find out more information about Tota's from St. Kitts, I'll be able to tie it together.

Cheers,
Stacey Kyme
