I am in search of the parents and relatives of Amelia KESTNER my 4th great-grandmother. Amelia was born in Germany on 28 Jul 1852 and then travelled to the United States, where she married Solomon MITCHELEN of Ohio. Both died in Nebraska, Pennsylvania; Amelia on 11 Feb 1914.

They had 9 children:

Emma, Annie, Lucy, Harry, John, Lydia, Howard Solomon, Wilbert Amel, and Edward Arthur.

Any help would be greatly appericated.

Hi Brandy

Amelia Kestner was my 3rd great-grandmother. Would be more than willing to share with you what I have of her, Solomon and families and what decedents I can. Which branch of the family are you from? My line runs Amelia Kestner - Emma Mitchelen - Eva May Whitman - Emma Ruth Carbaugh, my grandmother.

May I suggest that when researching the parents of Amelia you take into consideration that the name could have been Kaestner? In German that would be the a with the two dots, umlaut, above it, which would be pronounced Kestner and could have been written that way just to simplify things in an English speaking country. Kaestner would be much more common in Germany than Kestner. This point could make record searching a bit easier. Best of luck.
