While he came to the US in 1882, He used the name Wyda, stating he was born in Cheb, CZ. and his real name was Grohal, (told to me by his daughter & My Father), or a variation of that name. Born in 1863/1864. He was married to Mary Stock, unknown birth place, but born in the same year, The story goes that the Wyda's adopted him aboard ship. From what I understand. that is not a possibility. It appears that they lived in bukow prior to immegrating to the United States. Thanks for your help...Bob
If your ancestors were Byzantine Catholic [Ruthenian] than they were most likely from eastern region of Slovakia.
GROHAL no such in Slovakia but a GROHAL and ROHAL found in eastern region of Slovakia.
