I am researching an ancestor named Job Wright, and I discovered one document has his name signed as Job. (with period after his name). So it appears as Job. Wright.

His other documents in same file does not have the period though.

What does the period mean?

Thanks.

Karen

It could be an abbreviation for Jacob.
