Feb 1, 1904 who married Hattie Williams, had sons Jack Riley and Billy Ray, daughter Mary Alice. Floyd had brothers Russell, Elmer, Homer, sisters Pearl Copley of Louisa Ky, Margie Preece of Inez, Ky, Stella Copley of Prestonsburg, Ky, Nell Miller of Ashland Ky. Floyd's parents were Clayton Kirk and Dutch Underwood. The line begins with John Kirk b. abt 1725 in Scotland. I understand there were a lot of Kirks in Kermit, W Va, would like to hear from you.

Cheryl, I just read an old posting of yours and you mention a Pearl....Floyd had a sister named Pearl, and a sister named Margie who married a Preece. I bet it is the same Kirk line.

Myrna,
I feel like this is the same line. My great-great grandfather was Tom Kirk. He was married the an Elizabeth (Betty) Maynard. They seperated and he went to the Kermit/Inez area. He had another large family there and apparently owned a considerable amount of land on Wolf Creek, KY. I know this because in the early 60's, my grandmother and her brothers and sisters (or their descendants) received an inheiritance when this land was sold to a coal company. The only child of this second family that I know is Millard. He visited my family in the 60's. He was probablly around 70 then. The Pearl I mentioned was (I think) a child of one of Tom's children. Perhaps her father was a brother or nephew of my great grandfather Melvin who was Tom's son. Do you have anything on a Melvin Kirk? Keep in touch. My e-mail is cdbryant@hotmail.com

Not sure if you are still looking for this family info but I would love to see some of what you have gathered.
Stella Copley Kirk was my grandmother and Clay was my great grandfather. Floyd would have been my great uncle? All I really know is that all of Floyd's brothers and sisters have passed away, except for Russell. He is the only one still living. I don't really know much more. Just that there are still relatives living in Martin Co. Ky.

I would love to know the family tree from Clay Kirk backwards. I have never gotten any farther then his parents.
My email is tracey_traveling@hotmail.com if you have anything you can tell me.
Thanks!
Tracey Copley

My mother is Opal Kirk Varney and she is living at Turkey Creek, KY. She is the last living child of Augustus Kirk, the eldest son of Clay Kirk & Maggie "Dutch" Underwood. I don't ever remember her referring to her grandfather as Clayton, only Clay. Feel free to email me at lisaanncarter@comcast.net if you still desire more information.
