There may be helpful info in a book called South Carolina Baptists, 1670-1805 by Leah Townsend, published 1938, available from Higginson Book Co. I have this book if you have a particular person you would like me to look for.
Also the Baptist Historical Collection at Furman University, Greenville, SC has many church records on microfilm. Also many Baptist church records have been microfilmed by the FHL in Salt Lake City and are available for use in a local FHC. Hope this helps.

lookup Barrett, M M

Many other Barrets were there also. Can not connect M M with any other. Thanks for you help and time, Curt Gronner

The SC Baptists book goes only through 1805 so of course doesn't mention a MM Barrett. It does have three Barretts mentioned:
Nancy Barrett who m. William Woodward 1781. He was a physician and member of Congress; lived in Fairfield Co and Chester Co. Member of Sandy Rive congregation that seems to have changed its name to Woodward Baptist Church at some point. William Woodward died c. 1820.
Listed as members of Head of Enoree Church 1800-1801 were Elizabeth Barrett and John Barrett. Relationship is not stated. (Head of Enoree was located in Greenville Co., SC.) Both of these churches were initially members of the Bethel Association. The association minutes still exist to the best of my knowledge and are stored on microfilm in the Baptist Historical Collection at Furman University, Greenville, SC. I believe they are available on inter-library loan. Many of their church records are so these probably are as well.
Hope this has helped some.

Could you advise phone number or address of the Higginson Book Co. in Greenville? Would like to purchase the S.Carolina Baptist book to see if my ancestors (Nathaniel Jackson) are listed in it. Also, can you advise where I can obtain a copy of a book by a Flavius J. Jackson on Jackson's? He wrote a book and had it published some years ago on Jackson Genealogy and I saw it at a library and found some of my ancestors in it. Thanks.

The Higginson Book Company is located somewhere in the Northeast. I no longer have their address; however, I believe they have a website. The book on the Baptists that they published only goes through 1805. I have no information about a Jackson book.

Suzanne,
Nathaniel Jackson is my ggg grandfather and i Have the straight line Jackson genealogy back to the middle 1600's how are you related to Nathaniel.?
Will be glad to send you the genealogy i have if you want it.
I also have a copy of the book by Flavius J. Jackson it has a lot of good information in it but William Jackson who died 1709/10 he has as the older of the Jackson clan isn't the father of John Jackson who married Rebecca as he stated. I have the proof of who his father was and it is in the genealogy i have.

Buddy Jackson

I am not related to any Jacksons that I am aware of. The person I responded to was looking for information on a Tyger Baptist Church.
