Hi, I'm looking for info on my gggrandfather Fritz Vogt. He was born in 1860 in Germany. He and his wife Martha Theiss were on the 1900 census for Colorado, with their 5 children. His father's name was Gottlob. He came to the US in 1883. Any help would be appreciated. I know they moved to Ariz. but don't know when.

I'm looking at the Vogt, and the Vancurler line, but just looking right now. Good luck.
If you find out anything about Count Von Vogt, that would be fun to know. Small world.

Interesting coincidence: my mother's mother was Elizabeth Vogt, descended from Carl Vogt, Johann Vogt III, Johann Vogt II and Johann Vogt I from Oberdiessbach, Swizerland. My wife is related to Ethel Rickey, who was born in Colorado in 1891, and married a man named Theiss. I know nothing more about him, but he could be related to your Theiss relative.

Hi Wanda, I never realized how many Vogts there were until I started trying to find our family. I'm not having much luck so far tracing our gggrandparents on the Theiss and Vogt side before the 1900 Census in Colorado. Send me your email address so we can chat. Carol

Hi,
I thought you'd never get on board again. I haven't had a lot of time to look things up. I hope to eventually. Been wanting to look up my GGrandmother Weaver who died at 17 on dad's side giving birth to my grandfather. mcarthur@att.net

Theiss family from Germany

Hi, My info on Theiss (Theys) came from a daughter of the daughter of John Henry Theys-Theys. John Henry was born in Hesse Dormstadt Germany abt. 1844 I found them on the 1900 census for Denver Colorado, at that time it was listed as Petersburg CO. Sheridan Town. They came to US in abt. 1882.
On the census his wife was was listed as Theresa but I know this was his second wife, as his first Kathryne Haas, his first wife died in child birth. The children listed on census were:
Henry John
Katherine
Martha
Elizabeth (married name Lunou)
Katie
Lizzie (married name Halter)
Anna Martha (my ggrandmother, married name Vogt)
Louise (married name Franzen.
All children were born in Germany.
Do you think your Theiss in CO could be connected. Please contact me. Thanks, Carol

CAROL ---hope you are still checking out this message board. I'm curious to know if you might be Carol Ann Vogt who would have been born abt 1941 and had a sister named Vesta Joan Vogt who was 5 years old in 1941. I have sat here as I went through the Vogt message board looking at a picture of two beautiful girls with those names. Does Lawrence Vogt also ring a bell?

How is your wife related to Ethel Rickey? We may be related. Also, do you have any knowledge of the first name of the Theiss she married?
Thanks, Elizabeth Rickey
