I have just recently found out that John James French born 1921 was originally registered/christened 'Shorte' after his mother Amelia Shorte. He changed his name to 'French' in his late teens/early 20's after his father Jeremiah French.

John had a sister called Liza (I think that's how it's spelt) who he used to dance with. He also had a brother called Duncan. There are more siblings but I am yet to find their names.

He also knew Ruth Ann Kelly (known as Rose) who had a daughter called Hyacinth and they were from Nevis.

i'm trying to trace some family history, the most i know is my mothers mum was ameila kelly and her maiden name was moore, my father is a james but, thats as much i know. if you have any more information please contact me .

unsure if this is any use to you, but my fathers name is Clever Shorte and came from Basseterre as did my mother Pearl (nee Peets) , we all now live on Wales in the UK. My 1/2 brother Leroy still lives in St Kitts

I am curious to know if we are related in any way. My great grandfather, Horace Peets, was from St. Kitts. To my knowledge, he was married to Mildred Brown-Peets, but left her and moved to England.

I'd say there's a fair possibility that we are related somewhere along the line. I'd have to speak to my Dad to see if he recognises the names you have mentioned as apparently the Peets are a big clan on the islands of St Kitts & Nevis!
