Looking for any info on a Jewish Lawrence Cohen, in Spartanburg, 1840, mother Jemima Cohen. This family went to Tallapoosa County, Alabama by 1860. He married 2nd time, Ella Jane Mitchell, grandaughter of Rev. Elias Mitchell, of Union.

If anyone is still researching this family, Ella Jane's father was Thompson Mitchell. We cannot connect to Elias Mitchell at this time. Jemima Cohen was the daughter of Joseph and Rachel Cowen/Cowin/Coan/Cohen. Her brother was Thomas. This was proven by a deed for sale of land of Joseph. Rachel signed with her children Mima and Thomas, 1802 Union County.
