I found an abstract of the Will of Patrick McGee as follows:

Pb. 463 Book "D" 1820-1823 25 Jun 1821 Will of Patrick McGee: I will that my daughters Elizabeth, Patty and Christiana, and son James shall have no further part of my estate. Second, my sons Jonn B., William S., Paul J., Enoch R. and Jonathan shall have land on Corn Creek in Gallitan Co. KY. That is if Jonathan pays me $100.00; if not, that is to be reduced from his part. Third, my daughters Rachael, Sarah Ann, Lydia and Ann Mariah shall have $1000.00 at my death. My wife is to have ht balance of my property if she remains a widow and to be disposed of as she sees fit. But, if she remarries, it is to be divided among the nine children here mentioned. My beloved wide, Rachel, and my son John B., shall act as my executors. Witnesses: Charles Call, John B. Hornbaugh, James Melton. Recorded 21 Oct. 1822.

I have the land records for 1785-1818 and there are many listings for a Patrick McGee and some for a James McGee but none are together. It seems like there might be another James McGee (perhaps the brother of Patrick) and I think maybe their father was John McGee. Let me know if you have any questions - I will try to help!

Thank you for your offer to help! Another reseacher told me she had land records of a court case in which Patrick was involved which named James Hyatt Mcgee as a son. She is in poor health and can not find her records. The abstract you sent mentions a son, James, but I still am not sure that this is James Hyatt. James H. would have been 35 when Patrick wrote his will. He owned a farm in Shelby Co. So, it makes sense that he was not left anything in the will. He had 15-16 children and none of them match the names of his brothers and sisters. Doesn't prove anything, but often they did name children after relatives. So, I'm still after that link to prove that Patrick's son James was James Hyatt

I think the wife of your James Hyatt McGee is listed as Elinor Frye - correct? So it seems that this person thinks that this son of Patrick is your James Hyatt McGee.

Maybe you could e-mail them? You never know....

Best of luck .. let me know how it works out!

RE: James Hyatt McGEE family photos, Kansas City MO.

Mabillion & Mary Ward McGEE [son of James Hyatt McGEE] adopted my great-grandmother [Josephine Angelo BROWN] then moved to Pasadena CA. I have the McGEE family Civil War era photo album, including 17 McGEE photos taken at the same time in the same studio!
However -- Only some of the photos are known, so I need other's photos to match to.
Once we have done all we can do with the album all the photos will be scanned and put on CDs for any family member that would like them. Cost will be for the CD/package and postage, as I'm not in the family history-for-sale-business. The album will be donated to the county historical society -- who already have an initial scan of the photos and are trying to ID them, with little luck.

If you have known/ID McGEE photos - please copy and send, and if you want to be put on the CD list send a note to my home e-mail: <4smokey@gmail.com> I hope to have this project completed by the end of the summer(?)

BTW - CSA President Jeff Davis & wife are also in
the album.
