If you get any information on this, please let me know. I'm a Mattice researcher. I have a photocopy of the Rex Mattice that traces the Mattice family back to it's origin as a Germanic tribe in Roman Gaul, now central Germany near Weisbaden. I'm happy to do look ups.

My paternal grandmother was Bessie C. Mattice (married Donley McBain in Winnipeg, later John K. Pease in Los Angeles). Born 1/26/1891 in Canada, d. 5/11/1974 in Los Angeles. Had a sister Lillian Mattice Penn. Her mother (recalled only as "Nano") left a husband named Mattice in, presumably, Winnipeg, and married a man in southern California (surname unknown). I am trying to find out where Bessie (name on death certificate, although it could originally have been Elizabeth) fits into the Mattice family. One of her two sons (my uncle) has the middle name Haines, so that could indicate descent from George Haines Mattice. Much obliged if you have any information.

I don't find anything in the Mattice book yet but I also have some other resources to check. Also, the book is being reprinted. Let me know if you're interested in a copy. I'm sending my Mattice mailing list to the branch of the family who holds the copyright.

is this any mattice? my grandfather was a mattice if correct he was born in dowiagiac,mi. he was french and indian one of maybe 7 parents died they were put in coldwater orphanage maybe
