In 2002 I posted a Roll Call for people actively researching their Doukhobor family lines. Now six years later, at the start of 2008, it would be good to do this again!

With over 2,890 postings on the Doukhobor Message Board, many messages are slowly being "buried" in the list. A Roll Call would provide a fresh begining by letting all listers know which family lines we are each researching. Perhaps if we all do this, we can connect when we otherwise might not and help each other out in our research!

I am a direct descendant of the following lines and am researching them extensively: Barchukoff, Bonderoff, Chernoff, Cheveldayoff, Chursinoff, Demosky, Demoskoff, Ivin, Kalmakoff, Kolesnikoff, Konkin, Konusoff, Lazaroff, Nemakhoff, Novokshonoff, Parfenkoff, Planidin, Popoff, Remezoff, Sherstobitoff, Shukin, Vereshchagin.

Although not a direct descendant, I am also extensively researching the following collateral lines: Androsoff, Barabanoff, Dergousoff, Fedosoff, Hancheroff, Kaboroff, Kotelnikoff, Krukoff, Lapshinoff, Malikoff, Morozoff, Nemanikin, Ostoforoff, Pereverzeff, Plaxin, Rebalkin, Samorodin, Shiloff, Shishkin, Stupnikoff, Sukocheff, Trofimenkoff, Trubetskoff, Vanjoff, Verigin, Zbitnoff.

In addition to these main lines, I have a large number of other Doukhobor family lines in my personal research files.

I look forward to hearing from others who answer this 2008 Roll Call. Happy New Year!

I am trying to learn more information about the history of the Doodchenko family and the Matvienko family of Kamsack, Sask. on behalf of my Doodchenko grandsons. I know their ancestors who came to Canada were Nicholas Doodchenko and wife Eliabeth Matvienko. They had 3 children that I know of, John, William and Ellen. I don't believe their are many descendants. Sergie Doodchenko of Saskatchewan is a cousin of the Ontario Doodchenkos.

I have read much that you have written tonight about these families and would like to know if you have more information on these names specifically.

Hi Jon..........I have quite a bit of information on Vereschagin. My cousin Anna Popoff married Alex Vereschagin. For some reason, the name was fascinating and I had just read her book. If you wish information, I can send you a report. I also have Popoff (some may be Doukhobors........I don't know), Shuken (although you indicated Shukin).

What I'm doing with the Russian Molokan site (for my own information and possibly others)is recording the subject, surnames and the link. You are correct in that the names are buried. But if there is an active index, it would be easy to browse, rather than do a query. Each of the messages has a number. This one is 2966. Then if someone sees something they want to look at, they can click on the link. I've just started, so I'm not sure where my little project is going. I have many projects as you have.

Cheers......Nancy (Poppin) Posey

hey Jon,
Do you have any info on the Postnikoffs that might be related to me ... I have recently become interested in researching this again, and unfortunately my pop has no recollection of the family roots, etc.

If you know of somewhere I could find this, that would be great.

Ciao.
