I am trying to find out about my Great-Grand Father William Puchta. He was a brewery master and his wife's name was Emma. I know they were married in Milwaukee in 1899 but I cant find anything else. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. I dont have birth dates or death or anything.

Went back to the site and typed in the last name only and they were married Oct. 18 1899 in Milwaukee. Looks like you can buy a copy of their marriage certificate and that should provide some more info.

.......or you can look up the data you found on the WHS site on familysearch.org. It has Wisconsin Births, Marriage and death transcribed records. There has more detail and it's free.

OMG! I know what you mean -- since 2007 I've been paying dearly for my free offer to work with the local genealogy society to create what is now "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items". And then there's the thousands in cash and many thousands of hours I logged since 2007!

But I digress: regarding the free follow-up to the Puchta research request you received, there are a couple of free Puchta entries in my index: Emma B. (née Roehrborn), Margarethe, and William D. Puchta

It's been a decade or so since this query was first posted, so it's very possible that you've already discovered the "gold mines" at findagrave.com, where quite a bit of death/birth info is already listed for this PUCHTA family:

William David PUCHTA, born 30 December 1870 and died 21 July 1936; buried at Union Cemetery in Milwaukee with "Mamma" Emma ROEHRBORN PUCHTA who was born 20 February 1873 and died 20 June 1912.

There are also at least 5 additional PUCHTA names at Union Cemetery, so some of these other burial listings may fill in other missing "holes" in your research.

Good luck, and please give us volunteer researchers an updated summary of what you now have and what you're still looking for. (Thanks...that helps us focus our efforts on more specific and beneficial things for you.)
