On the 1920 Federal Census there is listed a Henry Gottman listed as living in Ohio, Ellis County, Oklahoma,. Can anyone tell me where Ohio, Oklahoma was located? Thank you for you assistant.

The "Ohio" you are referring to is Ohio Township; there is no town that I know of out there by the name of Ohio. A township in Oklahoma is the next smaller designation from a county for an area of land. Oklahoma does not have township-level government entities as do some other states. Ohio Township in Ellis County, Oklahoma, is located just south and west of the town of Shattuck, Oklahoma. Shattuck is located in Ivanhoe Township, and Ohio Township is adjacent to Ivanhoe Township. Maps that show townships in Oklahoma are hard to find; the Oklahoma Highway Department is the best source I have found.
