I have some info on Mark Allen McClendon and his wives. I am looking for information on Francis Marion "Frank" McClendon and his wife, Rebecca Levinsky. Francis died in Franklin, Arkansas.

That Francis Marion was the son of Labon Gordon McLendon. What info are you looking for? You do know that Frank was married twice, don't you?

Thank you for replying. I am looking for information in two areas: 1. Name and any details about Francis Marion's first wife--I was told by my grandmother that her name was Rebecca Levinsky (sp?)She is my direct ancestor. I found her with Francis in the 1850 Tishomingo, Mississipp census with two children that seem to be from a previous marriage. She & Francis had my grandmother, Generia Francis McClendon, in 1852, and I was told that she died soon afterwards. If she was married previous to marrying Francis, I'm assuming Levinsky was her married name, but it could have been her maiden name. I can't find her. 2. I'm also wondering if you have been able to learn the names of Gordon Labon's (or Labon Gordon) parents or any information on his wife, whose name I think is Sarah Elizabeth York. My facts are sketchy for this generation although I do have info on 7 of their children.
I would be happy to share whatever I have with you. I think I may have been in contact with you a few years ago.
Thanks, Generia Perkes

I don't have any additional info to share with you about Francis Marion's wives. However, I do suggest that you continue to research his siblings, other children's lines. I would also join the Levinsky Rootsweb e-mail list and also the county list where they wer e married, if you have that info. If you can find information on where his daughter (that you are obviously named after), was born, died or married, those documents would probably help you. Especially the Death Certificate. Realize that he probably went by Frank instead of Francis and search the census with all variations. A friend of mine once told me that Francis was the only one of Gordon's or Mark's sons that supported the Confederacy, so you might check that out. However, he was more than likely in Yell or Scott County AR after his marriage, because that is where he probably ended up. Also, Mark had a son named Frances Marion also (b. 1866), so watch birthdates. If you want to correspond with me further, please write me direct at: dixlanatsuddenlinkdotnet replace at and dot with the symbols. Sincerely Maryann
