Has anyone heard of a man named John Willam Henry Harrison? Born Abt 1873, there is conflicting, birth certificates of where he was born according to each of his childrens B.C."s I know Ive seen them, one said he was born in Tenn, another says N.C. and another says Tulsa OK well you get the idea, I dont know what to believe thats why Im trying Indiana I guess anything is possible, Ill try every where eles too. I do know he was my grandfather and I know he lived in Tenn for at least 36 years and I know he lived in KY and Ohio where he died,He always said he was adopted by Harrison"s when he was a small child, He said he was related to the famous president Harrison"s but then again who isnt, He said he was full blooded Cherokee and he and his children look it, He also said his mothers name was Icy and his father was a great painter, you see why Im so confused, I know this man was in alot of trouble with the law, I also know he tryed to kill a man in Mexico and Ohio. Terri: Ive been brousing John Harrison's looking for mine and ran across one titled John Harrison arrested. It concerned a John Harrison 18 who was stealing mail. I don't have time to go back and find the reference again but I know it was more recent than your inquiry and on this forum. Good luck vmv

I just got off the phone with my parents and on my grandmother's birth cert. it said he was born in Utah but who knows the records back then are all screwed up. I do know he did live in Tenn. and Ohio where he died, but I didn't hear of him being in trouble with the law but I DID hear and even looked up that John was adopted by a U.S. Gen. and was related to two presidents. My parents told me that I have a Great-Uncle Mike Harrison. My Dad doesn't know if John had any sisters or brothers. So if you can help that would be great. Margret (one of John's kids) was killed in Ohio in 1958, the murderer is unknown and John ex-wife Eliza died of drinking problems in (I think November) 1957. Please help if you can!!!! Dea

My name is Amanda Harrison and I have a gggrandfather named John Harrison born around 1840-60 who married an Eliza Ann Cooper. This was not his first wife. He had 3 children with Eliza: Benjaman, Pearl and John Alvin. According to the 1900 census, there were 2 older children that were not Eliza’s: a son George and a daughter Mattie and the family lived in Dyersburg which is where my ggrandfather John “Alvin” was born. John Alvin fathered 2 sons James Edward and Lee Roy. Lee Roy is my father’s father.

There is also family lore that mentions an orphanage. My father thought it was that John Alvin was in an orphanage but his cousin (James Edward’s daughter) believed that it was John Sr. that was in an orphanage.

Does this match with anything you’ve mentioned in your Harrison posts?
