Looking for information regarding the Mottice/Motice geneology/ancesters who resided in the Waynesburg area of Stark county beginning in the 1800's. More specifically information on the old stone house on Motice Rd, Waynesburg which was incidentally burned to the ground around 1962. Interested in learning more about this house and this lineage.

a Mottice cemetery is listed in a Stark Co cemeteries book as: "Mottice Cond: G Section S9. Location: one mile west of SR 43 on Ridgeville Rd." don't know what's there.

My husband is a descendent of these mottices. We drove by the old house in the 60"s when all that was left was the chimney. Recently we tried to find it again but could not. Peter Mottice the original settler to Stark County is buried in the Waynesburg Cemetary but I understand it is now unmarked. Should be row 21, grave 21. I am sorry that I just saw your posting as I suspect you have already been to Stark County. Please feel free to E-mail me as I do have info on the Mottices.

The cemetary is no longer their per the Stark Co. Cemetary book Vol II, I too am looking for Mottice info, I have some. Bill Farber

Thanks for the info. I have been pretty busy lately with moving and have not had much time to search. MY prime interest is in the old stone house on Mottice Road where I lived as a child.

I'm from the John Creighton Mottice line of Mottices and have a family history written by Dorothy Farber, who was descended from John Creighton's brother James W. Mottice. Are you related to her?

I'm interested in John C.'s and James W.'s grandfather Peter and his ancestors. I have several different versions of Peter's pre-Ohio story, but they all differ in key respects. If you have Mottice info this far back, I'd love to hear from you.
