Thank you so much for writing! It isn't often that I find Cheesmond spelled the way I grew up with so I try to save everything I find. My grandparents names were Jerdian Robert Cheesmond b. 7-3-1899 in Michigan, USA. My grandmothers name was Hazel Elizabeth Cheesmond born in Michigan. My great grandfathers name was William Thomas Cheesmond b. 9-23-1863 in Durham County England. He married my great grandmother, Jennie Honey. Williams parents were Robert Cheesmond born in England and Mary Robson who was also born in England. Robert and many of his family came to the United States and lived in Streator, Illinois where he died May 18,1890. My ex sister in law had started searching many years ago and never really wanted to share anything she found. She did have some information that there were Cheesmonds in Saudi Arabia and some in England. The message you found of mine is one of the first I wrote when I first started this search. I would love it if I can find as much as possible about the Cheesmonds and also the families they married in to. I am interested in finding family that is still alive also that would be interested in corresponding. I will be anxiously waiting to hear from you. Thank you again for responding to the message. Many thanks for your speedy reply. I will get together as much info as I can for you. Only Cheesmonds I have ever come across have all been related in some way and all originate from County Durham. I will speak to my Dad and get back to you.
Regards
Sue

I have spoken to my father, who is thrilled to think that we may be able to find missing members of the family. I am going home to the North East for Christmas so I will get together as much information as I can for you then, but meanwhile my Dad's Dad was called Robinson Peverley Chessmond (that is a name and a half isn't it), he had brothers called Richard, Kell, Ted (I do believe there was a message on your board from Ted's son). Robinson and Richard married two sisters, Mary and Dorothy McKenna. I hope this is something for you to be getting on with, I will get more information for you. My Dad had two brothers, Thomas and Richard, both have died, he also had two sisters Norah and Doreen, sadly they too have passed away. Anyway, bye for now.
Regards
Sue

I don't know about Saudi Arabia, but the spelling of our last names are the same. The origin of mine, as far as I know, is Brittish. Currently residing in Canada though.

I live in Co.Durham, North East England. My father's name was also David Cheesmond. Although he was adopted his mother Elizabeth Throrogood married her cousin, William Cheesmond so the family is still linked with Cheesmond. They lived in Chilton Co. Durham. In a previous message message I have read about the name Peverly. I can remember my Dad saying we had cousins called Peverly. i believe they were from Houghton-le-Spring. I also read about people called Ted and Kell, My Dad often mentioned his uncle Ted and Uncle Kell. I was also told that we had relatives in Canada and possible South Africa. I will ask my aunt for further information.

You had sent a message to me quite some time ago. Have you done a lot of searching since then? Can you tell me some of the first names of Cheesmonds that you may be searching for? I don't know of any Cheesmonds with that spelling that are not related. Let me know what you have and maybe we can link our Cheesmond history. Thank you, Cindy

Hello Cindy
Are you still looking for answers?
I was born in County Durham, the third son of Henry Cheesmond of Leadgate, County Durham (still alive aged 83). I have four siblings: Robert, David, Peter and Margaret.
My grandfather was Robert Cheesmond - an off-course racing bookmaker when that activity was illegal in England. My father was his only male child.
I spent most of the 1980s with my family in the Middle East. 1982 till 1985 was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
I now live in Northumberland, England. I have a son Jonathan, now 25 the only male member of his generation and therefore of my grandfather's branch on the family.
Hope this is of some use - let me know if you need any more.
Best Regards
Paul

So, are you saying we are related? Can you give me birth dates so I can see where you are in my family tree? We had information at one time that we had a relative in Saudi Arabia. I do believe that may have been you then. I had an address at one time also. I think the information had come from Kit who has passed away. You can email me if you would like to. I would be very interested in learning more. Thank you very much for sharing what you have. Cindy (O:
