Hi,

I am working with another researcher. We are trying to find an island about 3 American miles outside of Minsk. Her family lived on the island with 35 other families- and there was a manor there at one time.

I see a lake named "Zaslavskaya Vodoschovysce" (sp). It has at least two islands. Are they inhabited?

I saw your post and decided to tell you what I found/know about "Zaslavskoe Vodohranilische". Is that what you're looking for?

If so, than here it is:
We call it Minsk sea actually, which is situated about 10K NW from Minsk. It was formed in 1956, after they built a dam and other hydrotech buildings. There are something like 11 small islands in this lake. The biggest one is called the Love Island. There are lots of villages on its shores and beaches too cause that's where most of the Minsk population goes to swim/tan in the summer. As far as I know the islands themselves are covered in trees & bushes and are not inhabitable.

Before that water basin was built a lot of locals were displaced (or rather relocated) from the area. The rumor goes that the top people of Soviet Belarus of the time had to come over to persuade one last old lady to get out and move into her new apartment. After the water covered the floor she surrendered.
It might have been an island over there or it might have been an area often surrounded with water in the deluge season.
