I have a photograph of Dr. Bertha AHLMANN in my grandmother's photo album. St John's Cemetery, Pierce County lists 3 children: Children of W. and Dr. B AHLMANN who died between 1872 -1877. I am looking for any information on this family or near relatives. Also any association with SCHULZ who lived in Madison and/or Platte County

On behalf of the Pierce (Nebraska) Public Library Genealogy Help Group we are happy to supply the following:
Norfolk Daily News; Norfolk, Nebraska; Monday, 26 June 1911 – page 2
Dr. Bertha Ahlmann
Dr. Bertha Ahlmann died at her home at 208 South Fifth street at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon from the effects of kidney trouble, caused by a runaway accident four years ago when she was making a call to treat one of her patients. At that time she was thrown from the buggy and one kidney was torn loose. Since then she had suffered continually. She grew worse during the past two weeks and Sunday afternoon she passed peacefully away.
Funeral services will be held from the Christ Lutheran church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Ahlmann was born at Braumsberg, Pomerania, Germany, on April 11, 1850. In 1868 she was married to William F. Ahlmann. To this union nine children were born, of whom three are living – Arthur, William and Charles. Mr. and Mrs. Ahlmann came to the United States from Germany in 1878 and settled on a homestead in Pierce County. In 1880 they came to Norfolk.
Norfolk Daily News; Norfolk, Nebraska; Tuesday, 27 June 1911 – page 5
Funeral services over the remains of Dr. Bertha Ahlmann will take place at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the family home on South Fifth street and at 2:30 at Christ Lutheran church, where Rev. J. P. Mueller will deliver a sermon in the German language and Rev. Mr. Scheips of Pierce will deliver a sermon in English. Interment will be made in the Prospect Hill cemetery.

Sherrill, Bertha's husband Wilhelm F. Ahlmann is my 1st cousin 3 times removed. The Ahlmann family lived for several hundred years in Braunsberg, county Naugard, Pomerania. The town's polish name is Tucze since post WWII border changes.
I have the names of Wilhelm's ancestors back to his great-grandparents, including names of all the children in each generation. For Bertha I know the names of her parents.
This is too much information to type in here, but if you are interested in getting this data, please contact me.
Greetings from California, Christa Sobczak

Hi, I am also researching my Ahlmann ancestors from Pomerania (82 so far) and will list a few here, hoping some of my data will connect with yours (or someone else reading this). -- Please let me know.
Some of our oldest data (from Trinity Lutheran Kirchenbuch, North Morristown, MN) is of Johann Ahlmann I (b. est. 1790's?) who married Bertha Berndt, and lived in 'Pommern' (now Poland). They had at least three sons, one of whom was Joachim Ludwig Ahlmann, b. Nov. 30 1825 in Germany. He often went by the name of ' J. Ludwig', and he married Caroline Bundt who died (of tuberculosis?) in Germany between 1883 and 1888.
As a widower he emmigrated aboard the "Main", arriving in the U.S. Aug. 22, 1888. His occupation was listed as "Maurer" (census agrees, as does family tradition: he was a stonemason). He died Mar. 13, 1902 at Morristown, MN of old age at 76 yr, 3 mo 13 days.
Two of his sons and their wives and three infant grand children had previously emmigrated in 1883 and 1886. The two sons were: Johann Christian Ahlmann II (we have data on his wife and 10 Ahlmann children) and Hermann Ernst Ludwig Ahlmann b. Oct. 29, 1849, d. Apr. 8, 1898 at N Morristown, MN.
Hermann's wife was Bertha Louise Schmidtke b. July 11, 1851, d. Apr. 7, 1915 and they had eight children, three of whom survived: Bertha Ahlman Cross (1891-1956), Gustav Ahlman (1888-1979) and Franz "F. H." Ahlman (1880-1949).
Grandpa Franz Ahlman and Grandma Martha had nine children, seven of whom survived, including my own father, M. J. "Cap" Ahlman (1913-1965). Others include Wilhelm August Ahlmann (1909-1931, died in a car accident) and Arthur Gustav Robert Ahlman (1905-1979).
This Grandpa Franz Ahlman(n) was born in Besswitz, Kr. Rummelsburg, Pommern and his wife, Grandma Martha Smuda-Von Trebiatowski Ahlman (1886-1940) was born in Briesen, Kr. Schlochau, West Prussia (both now in Poland).
Grandma Martha's father, Josef Smuda-Von Trebiatowski married my Great Grandma Caroline Lange, whom I remember fondly. She had been born Dec. 18, 1864 in West Prussia, d. Feb. 11, 1945, buried at Calvary Catholic Cemetary, Faribault, MN.

Yes,my great grandmother was Albertina Schmidt, married to Wilhelm Ludwig Schultz and later Henry T Spoerry. I am looking for information aboout her father Carl Schmidt who came to Nebraska in 1871. Bertha Ahlman who was a homeopathic doctor in Norfolk, was Albertina's sister If you have any information about these people I would apreciate hearing from you.

There are two Bertha Ahlmanns. William, my ggreatgrandfather married the Bertha who is not the Dr.Bertha, but she is related. Willy and his wife arrived in America after the Dr.Bertha Ahlmann did.
