Hi Joseph,

Sorry, but I had to ask. Do you have some connection to the Carrico line?
I looked in my data but didn't see the Fritz name.

Aloha,

Dan

Your John Carrico b. 1804 was son of Alexander (AKA John A.) Carrico & Mary Sedgwick who married in Montgomery Co., MD in Jan. 1800.

In 1800 Alexander "Callico" is living in Montgomery Co., next door to his father-in-law, William Sedgwick. By 1810 Alexander & family are found in Fayette Co., PA, where they "remained a year" according to the BIO of Alexander & Mary's son Henry C. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/an/localities.nort....

before moving to OH (where son James was born ca. 1813/14) remaining "two years" before arriving in Washington Co., KY in time for the 1820 census. By 1830 Alexander & Henry are in Casey Co., your John is in Adair Co. nearby the Wethingtons. 1840 census lists Alexander, John, Henry & James all in Casey Co.

Sometime before the 1850 census, Alexander moved to Martin Co., IN where he joined his daughter Elizabeth & her husband Felix Miles. In this census he is called John A. Carrico, his wife Mary Ann, & has his daughter Alice & son "Alexis" with him and next door is his daughter Harriet with husband Henry Able & their daughter Lavina.

Meanwhile, John, Henry & James are still in Casey Co., KY, but at least John & children (wife Susanna is deceased by 1860) join the others in Martin Co., IN soon after the census as on March 16 1851 John & Susan (Wethington) Carrico's daughter Elizabeth married David Fields in Martin Co., IN.

John A. (AKA Alexander) Carrico's will was recorded in Martin Co., IN 1856. I will post the transcript that was sent to me some time this weekend to this board. I also have information on his son Alexis estate in 1859 which I'll post. Since Alexis was unmarried when he died, his siblings and/or their children all rec'd a portion. This helps to confirm that John A. Carrico & Alexander Carrico were one & the same man.

Your Richard F. Carrico married Eliza Clements d/o Basil Clements April 28, 1857.

Meanwhile, John Carrico b. 1804 married the widow Mary E. Burch nee Queen, d/o Joseph Queen May 31 1862 in Martin Co. & moved with his new family to neighboring Daviess Co., IN by the 1870 census, where there were 3 additions to John's family, James Carrico age 7, Susan Carrico age 5 & Michael age 2.

You'll have to bear with me right now, my hard drive crashed before Christmas & I'm still in the process of recording again a lot of information. I had found your Richard in IL, but need to transcribe all of the information again. I do have a great many more details for you, but most are in the paper stacks about my desk at the moment due to losing my hard drive. Meanwhile, I hope this helps?

BTW, my ancestor is Alexander & Mary's son Henry C. Carrico. At this point, we do not know who Alexander's parents were, but I am working on it :-)

I believe the information about Mary Burch, the widdow, marrying Mr. Carrico in 1862 may be incorrect. According to the 1870 census Mary Queen-Clements-Burch was living with her son, Bassel Clements.

I just looked at the marriage you cited in 1862. It is for Mary E. Burch to John Carrico. I believe this is Mary Ellen Burch, the daughter of Mary (Queen) Burch and George Alexius Burch.

Also, Mary Queen-Clements-Burch was born in 1806-1807. She could not have borne children in 1870. The daughter was born in 1836, much more likely to be a new mother in 1870.

I'm not sure where Clements comes in, but I think we're talking about 2 different individuals.

Mary Ellen Queen married Edward Burch Jan 11, 1845 in Martin Co., IN.

In 1850 Mary E. was age 23 living with her husband Edward Burch age 28 in Martin Co., IN. Children living with them are listed as Joseph age 4; Sarah J age 4; Sarah E age 1. Next door to Edward & Mary E. is Joseph Queen & family.

In 1860 Mary E. Burch age 33 is residing with Joseph S. Queen (age 55) & Sarah Queen (age 53). Children in the same household are: Joseph S Burch age 14; Sarah J Burch age 12; Sarah E Burch age 11; John Burch age 9; Edward Burch age 4; Joseph S. Miles age 6.

On May 31, 1862 in Martin Co., IN Mary E. Burch married John Carrico.

In 1870 this family is found in Washington Twp., Daviess Co., IN as follows:

1870 IN Daviess Co., Washington Twp.
visit 47 family 48
Carico, John age 66 b. MD Occ: farm laborer
Carico, Mary age 44 b. KY
Carico, Susan age 7 b. IN
Carico, James age 5 b. IN
Carico, Michael age 2 b. IN
Birch, Elizabeth age 20 b. IN
Birch, Edward age 14 b. IN

As you can see, she has 2 of her children from her marriage to Edward Burch still residing with her in 1870. I'm not sure what happened to all of the children, but Sarah Jane married Hillary Ward in in 1867 in Martin Co., IN & 2nd to Horace Blaisdell 1875 in Stark Co., IL.

Horace's dau. Lydia Blaisdell by his first marriage would marry in 1886 Stark Co., IL James Carrico d/o John Carrico & Mary Ellen Queen. And also daug. Martha Blaisdell would marry Dominic Fields, s/o David Fields & Elizabeth Carrico who was a daughter of John Carrico by his 1st wife Susannah Wethington.

As well, Susan Fields, d/o David Fields & Elizabeth Carrico married 1880 in Daviess Co., IN to Thomas Edward Burch s/o Edward Burch & Mary Ellen Queen Burch Carrico

I think you'e right.

You know, I've read that 4th message in this thread about 50 times and I think my confusion stems from there being more than one Mary Burch, nee Queen.

I think I may have confused mine, who was married first to John Clements and 2nd married George Alexius Burch, with yours. I just realized that mine was the daughter of Richard Queen, whereas yours was the daughter of Joseph Queen. I think I did that because one of my Marys' granddaughters married a Joseph Queen.

In the process I did find the 1870 and 1880 census info on Richard Queen and family in Illinois. Send me an e-mail if you still need it.

My apolozies for the mix-up.

This is what I have on the Clements/Queen bunch:

Basil Clements (b Jan 16, 1770) and m(1) Mary Morgan had among their children: John (c1804), Sarah (Apr 14, 1807) & Basil (c1817). He marr (2) Sarah Queen, who was marr to an Unk O’Brien and had a dau named Theresa.

>John marr Mary Queen, d/o Richard Marshum Queen and Sarah Webb

>Sarah marr Joseph S. Queen, s/o Richard Marshum Queen and Sarah Webb. Their dau Mary Ellen Queen (b c 1827) marr Edward Ignatius Burch & John Carrico.

>Basil marr Elizabeth Ann Miles. Their dau Eliza Clements (b 1835-1838) marr Richard F. Carrico

>Theresa O’Brien marr Thomas Queen, s/o Richard Marshum Queen and Sarah Webb.

I do not know how Richard Marshum Queen and Sarah Queen O’Brien Clements were related.

Does that all look correct, so far?

Now to my Richard F. and John V. Carrico confusion:

I have Richard F Carrico as s/o John Vincent Carrico (b 1814 d Jan 24, 1892) and Susan ??; John Vincent as s/o Vincent Carrico and Mary Elder.

I have John Vincent marr to Susan Wethington as being b c 1805 s/o John Alexander Carrico and Mary Sedgewick.

Can anyone set me straight on these guys?

Thanks,
Kay—

Kay,

I don't have many details on the descendants of Vincent Carrico & Mary Elder, but as a descendant of Alexander Carrico & Mary Sedgwick, I have tried to look closer at their offspring.

In 1850 John Carrico age 45 b. MD is residing in Casey Co., KY with wife Susan age 42 b. KY. One of the children listed in this family is Richard F. Carrico age 13 b. KY.

John's parents, Alexander AKA John A. Carrico & Mary (Sedgwick) Carrico are by 1850 residing in Martin Co., IN with several married & unmarried children in their household or as neighbors.

Before the 1860 census Susan has died & John has also moved to Martin Co., IN where he is listed as age 56 b. MD with his 2 youngest sons still residing with him.

Richard F. Carrico married Eliza E. Clements April 28, 1857 in Martin Co., IN & is found in the 1860 census there as Richard Carico age 23 b. KY, wife Eliza E. age 23 b. IN & son John F. age 1/12. They are residing 2 doors fro Basil Clements & wife Celia.

By 1870 Richard & his family have moved to Cumberland Co., IL. On the 1880 & 1900 census' it states both parents were born in MD; 1910 & 1920 that his father was born in MD, but mother b. in KY.

I have nover seen that Alexander Carrico & Mary Sedgwick's son John had the middle name of Vincent. There is however a Joseph V. Carrico in Martin Co., IN which I have been confused & unable to determine if this was John Carrico & Susan Wethington's son Joseph.

I haven't looked at this information in awhile, will need to recheck my notes.

Please let me know if I am in error on Richard F. Carrico.

Thanks,

Linda Boorom
