My grandfather Leonard B. Platzer was born to Peter Platzer and Searphina Saurer in 1922. Peter Platzer came to this country in 1888 I believe with his mother Maria, who married Anton Wallnofer the following year. I do not know Maria's maiden name. I was told that Peter's father died in Austria on a farm before they came to this country. I was told his name was Peter as well but I'm not sure. The family has always told me that they came from Tyrol, Austria but as you all know that is not much to go on. I'm trying to find the town/city/village in Austria where they originated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

when you look into phonebook for Tirol you can see you really would need a placename they came from.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I still do not have a place name. I did find something on FamilySearch.org that shows Anton Wallnofer and Maria Kurz marrying on 1/18/1887 in Tschengls near Laas, Tirol Austria. This is now located in Italy. According to the census records they immigrated to the US in 1888 and were married in 1889. The dates are close so this may be them. Also, it indicates Kaspar Wallnofer as Anton's father. According to the census Anton had an older brother Kaspar who was living with him. So I wonder if his older brother was named after his father. If so, I believe I have the right Anton and Maria. If that is true, Peter's father (possibly also named Peter) should have came from the same area.

phonebook Italy - write Wallnoefer as you have no ö. also 1 result in Laas. you get 20 results in this way. when you copy here the name with ö into the research you get 74 results! 97 results for Platzer, 10 results for Saurer:

so for best you ask for the marriage there > Anton Wallnöfer and Maria Kurz on 1/18/1887 in Tschengls, Laas, South-Tyrol, now Italy, possible more to find at this church-book-entry (parents, birthdates and so on).
ask at parish-church (Pfarre) Tschengls directly. their languages are german and italian there.
