William B. Wright, b 1859 Married Roxie A. Herring on
January 29th 1882, in Benton AK, Roxie was b. 1865 in Mississipi. All of their children were born in Benton.
Walter E b.12/08/1882 d.3/1883, Mattie b. 1883 d.1930 m.
3/4/1906 to Sam Patton Revis, Jewell B. b. 1887 d. 1926 m
Bunyan B. Dunn, Talmage A. (my gggrandfather) b. 12/28/1889, d. 1/18/1969, m. Mary Susie Bundrum 9/9/1911,
Dock Bernard b.5/1892 d. 8/20/1978 m Marie Huchingson,
Hollie Stanley, b 10/14/1894 d. 12/1966, Jessie ( I have no dates), Elsie C. b. 11/28/1900 d. 10/24/1904.
I have found Roxie on the 1880 federal census in Saline AK with her family John and Florence Herring.
I have only found speculated guesses for William and the 1880 census. Are you working on this family? As for where they lived I do not know the name of the road but when I was in Benton, 2 yrs ago doing reasearch the land where the family homestead was is located on the same road as the Liberty Memorial Cemetery in Benton. I was told that the land was sold to either the phone or electric company, I cant remember which. I know my grandfather just lived down the road, as well and many stayed right in Benton and raised their familys, for I have found most of their graves in Benton.

My Wright family, who came from Lincoln Co, Tennessee to Benton Co, Arkansas by 1859 bought a few pieces of land there. They were sold around 1872-1874 and by 1874 a William B Wright, no known relation, paid the taxes on one piece of land. Your William would be too young to be this William, but possibly one was the uncle of the other?
I don't know anything else about this William B Wright.

As I mentioned in my previous note. On the Federal 1880's census I located a William Wright, age 55, birthplace GA
m. to a Harriet also age 55. They had a William Jr. in the household that is indicated to be a nephew age 24. I think the Jr could be my ggg grandfather but due to the wrong age I am not sure but could this be your William age 55? It is for Saline Co. Let me know this could be a link to my family too!

I'm not sure Tina, there probably were a lot of William Wrights in Arkansas. Saline is not next-door to Benton, so...

Benton is in Saline County Arkansas. My sister lives in Benton.


Bentonville is in Northwest Arkansas near Fayetteville and Rogers. It is confusing even when you are from Arkanas.


My mother was Hilda Garle Wright, daughter of Robert Don Wright. There was many Wright relatives near Paris, Logan county, Arkansas. There is a Wright Cemetary there.

Arkansas' abbreviation is AR, not AK. AK is the abbreviation for Alaska.
