Hello,
My husband's family has one connection with the Carson family. His Mother was a Brunson of SC .In "The Brunsons of South Carolina" printed by The R.L. Bryan Company of Columbia, SC in 1979, on ppg.43 ff.Jane Melinda Carson mJoseph Woods Brunson (1839-1923), son of Peter Alexander and Susannah Pamela Woods Brunson.[ Marriage date not included but likely in SC Marriages List.] Their children are as follows:

1. Joseph Woods Brunson(1867-1951) m. Rose Elmore Taylor
no issue
2.Martha McBee Brunson (1868-1964) unmarried
3. Jane Carson Brunson (1870-1872)
4.Susannah Woods Brunson (1872-??) unmarried
5.Malinda McBee Brunson (1874-12Mar1962) b.in Pickens Co., SC , moved with family to Florence, SC in 1893. Grad. Converse College 1896 m. Rev.Robert W. Barnwell in 1902. Lived in Al., Va.,back to Florence,SC 6 children info. if you wish
6.Peter Alexander Brunson,MD (1877-1951) m.Adeline Hay Keith of Florence in 1902 7 Children ask me for info.
7.Charles Carson Brunson(1878-??)
8.Marjorie Bacot Brunson (1881-??)
9. John Carson Brunson (1885-??) m Julia Aline Heard
b.1887

John Woods Brunson was a surveyer and farmer living in Pickens Co.,SC when he met Miss Carson, but his family was originally a well to do family from the Florence, SC area for a couple of generations, before which they were in Edgefield District,SC and in Conn.and Mass. for a a generation after their immigration from England in the mid 1600's due to their religious differences with the English government.

My GG-grandmother, Martha Jane Nodine Taylor was the "keep keeper" at the Coxe Plantation. She passed away in 1949. I did not see anything in the Green River Plantation book about this...does anyone know of any other records that may contain info about this?

My grandmother said when she was a child, they went to picnics on the grounds.

Thanks! Jen
