Surnames: MORFORD
I am looking for any information on the surname MORFORD in Schoolcraft County. Especially during the early 1920's to early 1930's.

Would that be the Morford family that married into the Harris family (Louise Harris)? Her sister, Hazel Marie Harris Parks, is my grandmother.

Emma Desautle married a John Thomas (Jack) Morford in 1915, they had two children.

Jack was the son of James Morford and Sarah Nicholls from Missaukee County.

They divorced before 1930 and Emma remarried to a Lehman, at least one of the children, Clifford, assumed the name of his step-father.

That would be Clifford Cecil Morford, brother to John Thomas Morford who also lived in the area for a time, b. 1892 in Lake City, Michigan d. 1968 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a WWI Vet.

I believe after the divorce he stuck around in Manistique, as I found him in the 1930 census married to a Marie (not the ex, she was remarried by 1920 to a Hastings - I believe some of his children from that marriage assumed the Hastings surname here and there).

The children listed in the census were:

Lester Morford b. 1920
Leona Morford b. 1923
Loretta Morford b. 1925
Eleanor Morford b. 1927

Yes, Louis Harris was my grandmother. I would be interested to know what info you may have.
