I am looking for informtion on my grandfather's paretns. My grandfather was Encarnacion Barela Ramirez. Born in Santa Rosalia, Mexico around 1877. He came to the US in 1901.

I have not been able to find any information on his birth, or parents.

Do you know where and when he died? His death certificate might name his parents.

Likewise with a marriage record -- those sometimes name parents as well.

I see from your tree that he had a social security number.

You can order his Social Security application -- that might have his birth place and parents' names.

Have you tried a FamilySearch center? (aka Mormon genealogy library.) They have thousands of locations around the world, so there is probably one near you.

If not, you can probably order microfilm from them directly. They have filmed millions of records in Mexico.

They also have many Mexico databases online, although most are not indexed and you have to browse them:

Hopefully, you can find his birth/baptismal record in these.

Thank you for all your advice! I have found his marriage record (online) in NM, but no parents are listed, nor are they listed on his death cert.

I'll try the local family research center...I've been meaning to try one anyhow, so this is good solid lead to begin with.
